Friday 23 June 2017 No 527 P7 Leavers’ Service They have been a lovely bunch! The annual P7 Leavers’ Service will take place in St James’ Parish Church on Tuesday at 11.00am. Children will receive their Record of Achievement Folders and Annual Reports, and will be dismissed for the final time at the conclusion of the service. Family and friends are welcome to attend this special occasion. We would like to wish our P7s all the very best and every success and happiness as they move to their new schools. Reports for P1-P6 will be sent home on Tuesday afternoon. The Summer Holidays We are starting the preparation for the summer holidays and ask if you could check once again at home for any reading books you may still be holding on to. Reading books are costly to replace so the return of all would be much appreciated! After-school Activities and Tuition All after-school activities have now finished. A new programme will resume next year. All-Tex Recycling The final ‘All-Tex Recycling’ event will take place on Wednesday 28 June 2017. All items can be bagged together. Clothing, bedding, curtains, shoes and handbags (fit for reuse) should be sent to school in sturdy bags. Use your own bags (strong ones please) as this also saves us money. Bags can be dropped off on Tuesday 27 June at 2.00-2.10pm and 3.00-3.10pm and Wednesday 28 June 8.45-9.10am. Once again we thank you for your support, as it all adds to the fundraising total at the end of the year! All unclaimed clothes from last week’s lost property will also be bagged and recycled on Wednesday. Monday will be the last day to avail of the unclaimed property. Claim All Your Belongings – Final Reminder! On Friday 30 June, Mr McCaw and his team start the ‘BIG CLEAN’ in our school. We ask you, in preparation; to make sure your child/children take home all their belongings by Tuesday 27 JUNE as property left in the school will be re-cycled! Meadow Bridge Team Spirit Well done to the P5 - P7 boys who took part in a recent Kwik Cricket celebration event at Lisburn Cricket Club in Wallace Park. The boys participated in a coaching session organised by L.C.C. and they gained some brilliant experience from Cricket Ireland coaches. Well done to everyone who has taken part in Mr McCollum’s Kwik Cricket Club this year. Congratulations also goes to the girls from P6 & P7 who came ‘runners-up’ in the Dromara Primary School Netball Tournament on Wednesday afternoon. The girls played very well with a great team spirit and looked very smart in their team uniform. Looking forward to next year’s season! Furthermore, our football team participated in a tournament against seven other teams at Dromara earlier this week. We won the tournament – the first win we’ve had in football since 2013. Well done, everyone! Lisburn Fun Run 2017 Fundraising In October we presented an amazing £5100.00 to the Neo-Natal Unit in the Royal Victoria Hospital on behalf of all the children and staff in Meadow Bridge. On Monday Mrs Shields, along with Mrs Alison Harrison-Mitchell and a few children travelled to Belfast to see the machinery installed and ready for use. Jay McCord We would like to take this opportunity to wish Jay McCord (Mrs Shields P6), representing Meadow Bridge, all the very best in the Northern Ireland Judo Championship this Sunday at the Foyle Arena, Londonderry. From the PTA Here we are almost at the end of another school year and what a busy one it’s been. On behalf of PTA I would like to say a big thank you to you all for your continued support and commitment in helping us reach an amazing grand total of £8,130. This has included the school disco, Christmas and May Fairs, our Tractor Run, ‘Shop and Drop’ and few other things along the way.
