Rollout Process - “Jackrabbit Trail”

Jackrabbit Trail process.
• Students will pickup computers, ID cards, protection plans, and
pay fees.
• You and your student will complete and sign the Technology Device User
Agreement.
• You can pay for the Device Protection Plan at this time as well.
Device Protection Plan - What’s Covered?
Initial annual cost $30.00 covers:
• Accidental damage, such as cracked screens or cases, broken
keyboards, etc.
• Battery replacement (if it is determined that the battery is
malfunctioning)
• Loss of power cord or stylus
• Replacement of lost or stolen device. If the device is stolen, a
police report must be filed with a copy of the report sent to
the district.
Device Protection Plan - Cost Comparison
● Parents and students who choose not
to purchase the Device Protection Plan
are responsible for 100 percent of all
repair and replacement costs for the
device.
● Should your student’s device become
damaged, they will be provided a
loaner device while their assigned
device is being repaired. This loaner
device may not be of equivalent
performance or features.
*** All repairs must be made by MPS
certified technicians ***
These prices are estimates, as exact costs for each repair will be made upon
further inspection of the damaged device.

What is Blended Learning?
Where Are We Now?
Over the past three years we have gradually been introducing our
students to Blended Learning
• The Math and English departments has integrated classroom sets
of laptops into their weekly classroom activities
• The Social Studies Department has utilized carts of iPads in their
classrooms
• Over 1/3rd of teachers currently use Canvas (our online classroom
program) with students either in class or for additional resources.
Teacher Preparation
• Teachers will complete a Program of Study over the summer that
includes coursework in various different aspects of technology
integration and blended learning.
• Next year both the OIDCs and Ed Tech Trainers will provide
ongoing support to assist teachers.
Introduction Activities for Students
• Students will complete a Student Device Introductory Unit during
the first few weeks of class. Topics covered include:
•
•
•
•
•
How do I protect myself and my info online?
How do I care for my computer?
What if something goes wrong?
How do I complete my online assignments at home?

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Will my student be able to charge their device in class?
A. There will be limited opportunities to charge their devices in the
classrooms. We expect students to charge their devices at night. There
will also be charging areas available in the common areas of the school.
Q. What if my student forgot their device at home?
A. Please encourage him/her to double check their bags each morning.
They will not be given a loaner instead they will need to work with their
teacher to find a temporary solution. Frequent incidents will be handled
within our MESA behavior matrix.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Will the school provide cases for the devices?
A. No
Q. How will students be able to tell their computers apart?
A. When students receive their laptops there will be a MHS sticker on it as
well as a number and a place for their name.

A.Once the loss or theft has been reported the computer can be turned
off and becomes completely unusable.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How will teachers monitor student laptop usage in the classroom?
A. In addition to the great classroom management procedures that our
teachers already use they will have access to a program called LAN
