RDC Webpage Troubleshooting Introduction This guide describes how to configure Internet Explorer settings for Oracle Clinical Remote Data Capture Onsite (RDC Onsite) application. There is no need to install any additional software onto user’s computer as RDC Onsite is a Web application accessible over the internet. 1. Requirement for Running the RDC Onsite Application The Requirements to run RDC Onsite application are as follows: A Computer with high-speed internet connection. Microsoft Internet Explorer, Version 9.0 or later. Any other browser apart from Internet Explorer (like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox) is not supported and should not be used as there would be loss of functionality and the application would not be usable. RDC would also work on older versions of Internet Explorer but there could be issues so it's not recommended to use older versions of Internet Explorer. These will be provided by Siro Application Team after approval of access forms Operating System: Windows 7 / 8 / 10. Optionally, PDF Reader would be required to view Patient Data Reports (PDR). 2. Checking the Internet Explorer Setting Prior to running RDC Onsite for the first time, Verify that version of Internet Explorer meet the minimum requirement. Check that the Internet Explorer connection, security, and privacy setting are configured properly. Although RDC Onsite is compatible with the default Internet Explorer settings, some settings for your computer may have been modified due to various reasons. If user ever have difficulty starting up the RDC Onsite application, always check the Internet Explorer setting. To Check the Internet Explorer Setting Open Internet Explorer. Open the Help menu and select About Internet Explorer to view the version number. RDC Onsite requires Version 9.0 or later of Internet Explorer. Open the Tools menu and select Internet Options. © SIRO Clinpharm 2016 1 RDC Webpage Troubleshooting Click the Advanced tab. Scroll down to the HTTP 1.1 settings. Make the following changes: o Select the Use HTTP 1.1 check box. o Select the Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections check box. o Scroll down to the Security setting. Make sure “Do not save encrypted page to disk” setting is not selected: o Make sure the “Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed” check box is not selected: o Make sure the “SSL 3.0” check box is selected: Click the Security tab. Make the following changes: o Select the “Trusted Sites” button and click “Sites” button o Enter the address: https://cdm-pr-rdta-2.siroclinpharm.com and click Add button o o o Click OK to close the dialog box Click the Custom Level button to open the Security Settings window. Scroll down to Scripting. Under Active scripting, click Enable. o Scroll down to Miscellaneous. Click OK to save all your changes and close the Internet Options window. 3. Configuring the cache settings for the Internet Explorer The Performance of the RDC Onsite application is greatly improved by properly configuring the amount of disk space that the Internet Explorer uses to cache temporary Internet file. This caching space increases the speed at which RDC Onsite displays pages and CRFs. The recommended size for the cache depends on the design of the CRFs (Cash Report Form) in study, user usage patterns, and the number of other web sites and application that you frequently access. To set the cache settings for the internet explorer: Open Internet Explorer Open the Tools menu and select Internet Options. Click the General tab. In the Temporary Internet Files section, click the Settings button to open the Settings dialog box. o Select automatically for “Check for newer versions of stored pages” setting. This setting should not be changed in any circumstances else it creates problems o Set the amount of disk space to use for the Temporary Internet Files folder. Siro recommends to keep the setting as your current size + 100MB, which should not go beyond the allowed size of 1024 MB else it would create problems. o Click OK to save your changes and close the dialog box. Click OK to save all your changes and close the Internet Options window. 4. Adding RDC site for Compatibility View RDC website may not appear properly in some cases (like misplacement of fields or text) for IE7 and above. In such cases, it’s advisable to add RDC site to compatibility view to fix the layout issues.
