Who we are INC stands for INClusion and brings together five of Edinburgh’s brightest and boldest organisations to provide holiday playschemes and residential opportunities for children with additional support needs from across the city. The Consortium is a not for profit project made up of five organisations: The Action Group (lead organisation), Kidzcare, Lothian Autistic Society, Fabb Scotland and The Yard. The playscheme service is funded by the City of Edinburgh Council. By working together we open up a new world of opportunity for children and their families in Edinburgh. All partner organisations have robust policies and procedures in place, including child protection and, with the exception of Fabb Scotland, are registered with the Care Inspectorate. Quality playscheme, offering quality play opportunities Our goal is to provide playschemes that embrace playwork principles and enables all children to relax and enjoy themselves. We want the children and young people to be able to engage in freely chosen and personally directed play. Playworkers support the children by giving them opportunities to choose and create their play through a range of materials and ideas to inspire and challenge them. It is the playworkers’ role to create a positive environment for everyone to enjoy. Trained and experienced play workers at the playscheme work on a staff ratio of 1:2 for the majority of children and 1:1, 2:1 when required after an appropriate assessment. Play opportunities We provide a range of resources to encourage the children to extend their play. Play workers are there to support and help the children in their play. The children are encouraged to play outside every day to extend their play environment. They are also able to take part in a range of opportunities, such as physical activity and creative and imaginative play. Risk and challenge Our playschemes support the need for children to take risks as a natural step to challenge them emotionally and physically. We take all abilities and needs into consideration and our playworkers support each child to develop at their own pace. Don’t miss this opportunity! You can join these fun-packed play and leisure schemes run during school holiday weeks.Your job may be challenging but will be rewarding and may include helping children with day to day activities, joining in games, assisting with personal care and meals and going on regular day trips. The Frbruary playscheme runs for the February half-term week (16th - 20th), Mon-Fri, daytime hours in Edinburgh. Playworkers and Volunteers from the February scheme may also be invited to work on our playschemes run in Easter and Summer School holidays in 2015.
