Re: School Nutrition Program for the 2015-2016 School Year
Dear KCS Parents and Family members,
We are pleased to inform you that Knox County Schools will continue to participate in the National
School Lunch and School Breakfast Program called Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the 20152016 school year.
What this means to you; all students attending participating schools are eligible to receive a healthy
breakfast and lunch at school at no charge to your household each school day of the 2015-2016 school
year. No further action is required of you. Your child(ren) will be able to participate in these meal
programs without having to pay a fee or submit a meal application. A list of the participating schools is
attached.
Some families that qualify for free or reduced price meals under the federal school lunch program will
have a mixed household with one child attending a CEP school while another child will attend a non CEP
school. In this case, a meal benefits application will need to be completed at www.lunchapplication.com
for the child(ren) not attending a school that is participating in CEP.
Additional information on this and a variety of subjects can be found on the School Nutrition webpage
located on the Knox County Schools website at: http://knoxschools.org/Domain/1039
If we can be of any further assistance, please contact Mona Underwood at (865) 594-9563.
Sincerely,
Wanda McCown
Executive Director, School Nutrition
