you to do something. These are
called “Tools of Persuasion.”

Endorsement
Using
celebrities
or experts to
help
influence
your
decision
Uses Julian Hough to promote proactive.
Repetition
Repeats the information so
you can remember it

 This one has a subway picture on it at school.
Subways commercials repeat “5, 5 , 5 dollar foot
longs!”

Point of View
Tells the other side’s point of
view and why it is wrong
 I believe kids should study everyday. My opponent says kids
should spend all day watching television and playing video
games. If kids don't study, how will they ever learn?
 Progressive tells the other’s prices, and then tells you why to
go with them.
Association
Presenting a positive image or
idea to try and make you feel the
same way about something else.
 We want students to grow up to be thin, happy, and healthy.
Candy machines are not good.
 Gatorade has a lot of vitamins and minerals.
Stereotype
Uses unfair images of a group to
make a point
 All straight A students are nerds.
 Girls like to play with dolls is a stereotype.
Bandwagon
Suggests that mostly everyone
else is doing it
 Everyone is wearing “Shape-ups” so you should buy them.
 Buy me a cell phone, Mom. Everyone else in the 5th grade has
one.
