Number of Member Firms Employees, etc. (Purpose) These statistics are to provide the general public with the tendency of the number of Member firms employees as one of indicators to show trends in the financial instruments business industry. (Definitions) ・“Employees” refer to persons as stipulated in Article 2, Item 6 of the JSDA’s selfregulatory rules, “Rules Concerning Employees of Association Members.” ・“Registered Sales Representatives” refer to persons as stipulated in Article 2, Item 1 of the JSDA’s self-regulatory rules, “Rules Concerning Qualification and Registration, Etc., of Sales Representatives of Association Members.” ・“Officers” refer to persons as stipulated in Article 21, Paragraph 1, Item 1 of the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act and Article 247-2 (i) of the Cabinet Office Ordinance on Financial Instrument Business Operators, etc. ・“Sales Representative Qualifications” are those requirements stipulated in the items of Article 4 of the JSDA’s self-regulatory rules, “Rules Concerning Qualification and Registration, Etc. of Sales Representatives of Association Members.” ・“Financial Instruments Intermediary Service Providers” refer to those persons or bodies as stipulated in Article 3, Item 9 of the JSDA’s Article of Association. (Data Source) Data are gathered from reports (as of June 30 and December 31) submitted by Association Members in accordance with Article 16 of the JSDA’s self-regulatory rules, “Rules Concerning Employees of Association Members.” (Notes for Users) <Number of Employees of Regular Members> <Number of Employees of Specified Business Members> ・Numbers are reported by regional associations responsible for the areas where the head offices, branches or other offices are located. ・Employees that quit on the reporting date (June 30 or December. 31) are included in the number of employees for that period. ・In the Registered Sales Representative column, out of the total number of employees ((a)excluding directors but including operating officers, (b) including contract, temporary, and part-time employees) that are registered as Sales Representatives at the reporting date (June 30 or December. 31) are included in the number of employees for that period regardless of their current job. Registered Sales Representatives with more than one qualification are classified into a qualification category ranked higher to avoid double counting. Special Member Class-1 <Number of Employees of Special Members> ・The total number of employees of Special Members includes directors (excluding operating officers) and employees (including contract, temporary, and part-time employees) that are registered as Sales Representatives at the reporting date (June 30 or December. 31) regardless of their current job. ・Employees that quit on the reporting date (June 30 or December. 31) are included in the number of employees for that period. ・In the breakdown of employees in the Employees column, directors and employees that are registered as Registered Sales Representatives at the reporting date are recorded according to their types of Sales Representative Qualification held. Registered Sales Representatives with more than one qualification are classified into a qualification category ranked higher to avoid double counting. (Publication Timing) These statistics are published on the JSDA website around August and February each year. These explanatory materials are intended to provide assistance to non-professionals using the statistical data provided by the JSDA in understanding the specialized vocabulary used in statistics.
