New Year, New You 2016
Thank you for joining Jamestown’s New Year, New You Wellness Challenge January 11 – March 6. We
hope you will find this fun and encouraging in developing positive lifestyle changes. Your challenge is to
gain as many points as possible each week, report your points to your team captain, and get healthy!
Your payment serves as your consent. Team Captains are to collect payments and T-shirt sizes from each
teammate. Size chart is available at www.jrmcnd.com/nyny. Team Captains are to submit payment and
T-shirt quantities online at www.jrmcnd.com/nyny or drop off at any JRMC admission desk by 1/11/2016.
EARNING POINTS
EXERCISE POINTS: Team members will earn 1 point for every 10 minutes of continuous physical activity.
The goal is to intentionally participate in physical activity for the purpose of improving your health; activity
for daily chores does not count. It is well-supported by many governing bodies that in order to improve
health, adults must accrue at least 150 minutes of moderate activity or 75 minutes of vigorous activity
each week. Accrue as many 10 minute intervals of physical activity each day as possible.
Strength or resistance training does count toward your physical activity points! Do not forget these
important components to a healthy lifestyle.
FRUITS & VEGETABLES POINTS: The current recommendation by the American Heart Association is to enjoy
4-5 servings or more of fruits and vegetables daily. When you eat the minimum of 3 cups daily, you earn 5
points. Why should we eat fruits and vegetables? The benefits of eating fruits and vegetables include
weight management, lower blood pressure; reduced risk of heart disease, stroke, and some cancers;
lower risk of eye and digestive problems; and a mellowing effect on blood sugar that can help keep
appetite in check. You must eat all 5 servings (3 cups). There is no ½ credit for eating less than 3 cups.
WEEKLY CHALLENGE: Each week you will have the opportunity to accrue “Bonus Wellness” points. Each
week will have its own focus with a challenge worth 10 points. There will be an article printed in the
Jamestown Sun the Thursday preceding each week. This article will highlight the following week’s focus
and challenge. The article will also be available online at www.jrmcnd.com/nyny.
SURVEY MONKEY POINTS: Week 1 and 8
Please complete the short questionnaire on Survey Monkey. We analyze this data to provide you with an
awesome challenge and assist you towards success. The link for the survey monkey will be located at
www.jrmcnd.com/nyny. 10 points for the pre-survey and 10 points for the post-survey.
Record your points on the Participant Weekly Record sheet, available in Excel this year. Refer to
www.jrmcnd.com/nyny. Each week runs Monday through Sunday. Turn in your weekly point total to your
Team Captain each Monday. Team Captains/Team CEOs have a 10am Tuesday deadline for submitting
the total team points online. Late submissions will count towards the overall score, but not towards the
weekly score.
Results will be posted in the Thursday edition of the Jamestown Sun as well as at www.jrmcnd.com along
with the next week’s focus. The Corporate Point Average is calculated by the total points accumulated
by a team and divided by the number of registered participants. Therefore – any one participant
dropping out will significantly affect the “CPA”. If you must discontinue the program due to major illness or
family emergency, contact your New You, New You CEO or Team Captain who can contact us.

These points are in addition to the daily points you may accumulate:
5 points daily for proper hydration of 80 ounces (or more) of water*
5 points daily for getting 7 or more hours of sleep*
5 points daily for consuming 5 or more servings of fruits/vegetables*
1 point per 10 minutes of physical activity participation
*Points are all or nothing. If you don’t reach the minimum indicated, you cannot claim partial points.
Hydration points are claimed for 80oz of water only. Beverages with natural sweeteners, artificial
sweeteners, or caffeine are not counting towards your hydration goal.*
