What
The Home Plate Gala was launched with the Harmon Killebrew Hospice Home for Kids
Fund in 2013. It is an event that brings together friends of Harmon’s and of the MN
Twin’s as well as those that understand the need for Crescent Cove. In 2016 there
were 380 guests at Home Plate.
Why
The primary mission of the Home Plate gala is to increase awareness and support for
Crescent Cove, an organization dedicated to opening a children’s hospice and respite
care home in the Twin Cities. Crescent Cove is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, and
with your support, 100% of the proceeds from the annual event will go directly
towards developing a much needed children’s hospice and respite care home in

Harmon Killebrew Hospice Home for Kids Fund
During his retirement years, Harmon Killebrew was a spokesperson for the hospice
movement and embraced the role it plays at one of the most critical times we face in
life. Harmon’s family and friends have created a fund to help build the Midwest’s first
hospice and respite home specifically for children – Crescent Cove.
Event Promotion
Invitations are sent to friends of the Harmon Killebrew Hospice Home for Kids Fund’s
Advisory Council, Crescent Cove board members and event committee members as
well as to all donors and friends of Crescent Cove. Approximately 2,000 invitations are
sent by mail and 2,500 via email. The event is also promoted through social media and

Program
Guests enjoy viewing and bidding on top notch silent auction items and visiting with
MN Twins baseball legends including Tony Oliva, Jack Morris and Paul Molitor.
Guests will enjoy a delicious dinner followed by a program introducing Harmon’s
legacy to help build Crescent Cove, personal stories and entertainment. Following the
program there is a live auction and an appeal conducted by Glen Fladeboe from
Fladeboe Auctions.
