Prioritizing Nature and Play Time in Pierce County Pierce County has a variety of local places where families can relax, explore, escape distractions, and give back to the community. Three county parks have recently been updated to include new play space, recreational equipment, and habitat restoration for children and adults of all abilities to enjoy for years to come. Meridian Habitat Park Nature Playground Located in a rapidly urbanizing area in South Hill, this unique nature playground is nestled among the trees. Families can crawl on boulders, swing on a log, climb a netted peak, whisper to a friend through a listening tree and much more. Mayfair Playground This long awaited park improvement adds a focal point for kids of all ages to play at this popular and cozy neighborhood park. Parkland Prairie The restoration of this Pierce County park will make it a pollinator hot spot! Parkland Prairie, located on Tule Lake Road in Parkland, received some TLC from local volunteers this fall working to restore the native prairie areas and reforest the oak woodlands. In the coming years, trees will be planted, wildflowers will bloom, interpretive signs will be installed, and we will offer educational tours on easy walking paths. Put Parkland Prairie on your volunteer list next year! Help us bring this prairie back to life!
