PURPOSE: This document describes the process logging in to OnCore through the University’s secure
gateway. The current application used for accessing OnCore is VMWare Horizon.
POLICY: The UCD OnCore application will only be accessible through a secure gateway due to the
sensitive nature of the data contained in OnCore.

NOTE: VMware Horizon Web client doesn’t support Internet Explorer 9 or below. Instructions for
downloading IE 11 or Google Chrome can be found later in this document.
1. Open your browser and point it to the following address: https://remote.ucdenver.edu. Click on
VMware Horizon HTML Access icon.

2. When prompted to authenticate, please, enter your CU Denver credentials, select “UNIVERSITY” in
the last field and click “Login”
3. Once logged on, you’ll be presented with the resources you have access to. Depending on your level
of access, you may see multiple icons after authentication. Please, locate the Oncore environment
you’re trying to access and click on the icon to launch it.

4. Oncore will launch within your browser window. You may also see VMware Horizon menu pane on
the left hand side, which could be blocking part of your screen. Click on the tab in the middle of the
pane to minimize it. The pane will close and the tab will be moved to the left side of your screen.
When you need to open it again (to log off from the environment), you can click on it again to open
the pane. You can also maximize Oncore window if you wish.
5. When you’re done with Oncore, please, make sure to log out from Oncore and from VMware Horizon.
To do this, follow these steps:
a. First close the Oncore window by clicking on the “X” in the upper right corner of Oncore window.

b. Then, expand the pane that you closed in the previous step by clicking on the tab on the left hand
side of the screen inside of your browser window. Click on the menu icon in the upper right
corner of the pane and select log off.
NOTE: Printing to locally installed “Adobe PDF” printer, as well as any other local printers, is only
supported when using VMware Horizon client. Local printers are not being redirected to Oncore
sessions when using a web client.
To use your locally installed Acrobat Pro as a PDF printer within your Oncore session the following
configuration need to be done on your local computer (client machine).
6. Open “Devices and Printers” window and locate “Adobe PDF” printer
a. Windows 7: Click on “Start” button and , on the Start menu, click on “Devices and Printers”
b. Windows 8: Type “Devices and Printers” in Search field
7. Right click on “Adobe PDF” printer and select “Printing preferences”

8. Under “Adobe PDF Settings” tab, uncheck “Rely on system fonts only; do not use document
fonts” option. Click “OK” when done.
9. To use locally installed Adobe PDF printer or any other local printers from within Oncore session,
make sure to select the one with the name that has (s#) at the end.

Installing IE11
NOTE: These instructions are provided by UCH IT services and intended to use by users on UCH’s
network.
To upgrade your current version of IE to IE11, follow these steps:

Go to Start Menu
Select “All Programs” and located “Microsoft System Center 2012”
Launch “Microsoft System Center 2012” and, under “Available Software” section, locate IE11.
Double click it to install.
You maybe prompted to restart when installation is completed. Please, do so when possible.
Installing Google Chrome
To install Google Chrome browser on your local computer, please follow these steps:
1. Open your browser and go to “https:/google.com/chrome”
2. Under Download, select “For Personal Computers.” You’ll be redirected to downloads page.
3. Click “Download Chrome” and accept “Terms of Services”.
a. NOTE: An option to make Google Chrome a default browser will be checked by default.
Uncheck it if you do not want to make it a default browser.
4. Once you accept the “Terms of Service” the download will begin.
5. Run downloaded installer and follow the prompts in the wizard to complete installation.
