Greetings New Mark Families, I cannot believe that it is already May! Below you will find information regarding the end of the year activities as well as some school updates. MAP Testing MAP testing is later this year than ever before. Our 6th graders finished testing last week Our 7th graders start testing on the Falcon’s Team Monday, May 1, with 7th grade completing testing by May 7th. Our 8th grade starts MAP testing Monday, May 8, 2017, and completes this testing on Thursday, May 18, 2017. Any students needing to make-up a testing session will do so on May 15 through 19, 2017. EOC Testing Our Algebra 1 students will be taking the EOC on May 1 and 2. Make-up testing for the EOC will be on May 3 and 4. Honor’s Math Placement Our math prognosis testing for our incoming 5th grade will occur in the next couple of weeks. These students will qualify for honor’s math using the prognosis testing, MAP scores and the Spring Benchmark. 6th Grade Honor’s Math is a 7th grade curricular class. Your child will need to be proficient in 6th grade math concepts to be successful in this class. Our current students in 6th and 7th grades will qualify for honor’s math using iReady Benchmark testing, MAP scores, prognosis test and current grades in his or her math class as well. If your child qualifies for an honor’s math placement, you will receive notification via School Messenger. If you do not receive a phone call from us, your child will continue in a grade level math class. If you have any questions about this testing and placement process, please feel free to call Dr. Haniger or myself. End of The Year Activities We have numerous end of the year activities. Our PTSA has updated the calendar of events posted in this newsletter. Honor’s Night is set for 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 18th. Invites will be mailed out soon to students being recognized on this special night. We will be distributing our yearbooks the last full day of school on Wednesday, May 24. The majority of the signing parties will occur on the last half day of school, May 25, 2017. Our last day of school is Thursday, May 25th. We dismiss at 11:15 AM. The 4th quarter grade card will be mailed home. Proof of Residency Proof of residency needs to occur each year. Please make sure to get this done as soon as you can to avoid lines at registration this summer. The proof of residency form was sent home with your child two weeks ago. If you didn’t receive these very important forms, please contact our main office. You can stop by the school anytime between 7am to 3:30pm to get the forms as well. XLT, Summer Stars and The Great Adventure New Mark is hosting Antioch and XLT this summer. Our building will also house the district’s middle school summer program The Great Adventure. Summer Stars will be held at New Mark as well on July 26, 27 and July 31, August 1 from 8:30-11:30am. If you have any questions about the end of the year, please call our main office at 816-3215290.
