Volunteer Opportunity Descriptions
On behalf of the LPGA and the Symetra Tour - thank you for volunteering your time to assist with the
Tullymore Classic. The following are brief overview descriptions of many of the volunteer positions
available.
Driving Range Ensure the range is ready for use for the players to practice for their rounds of play. Will
be responsible for stacking of balls, club washing as needed; maintain driving range area in a neat and
orderly fashion and ensure water supply is adequate for golfers. Tuesday – Sunday.
Event Set-Up Assist in the set-up of the event including signage, trash receptacles, tables, tents and
other set-up as needed on the course or at the clubhouse. The majority of the set-up will occur Monday
afternoon and Tuesday.
Event Breakdown On Sunday, assist the Symetra Team and Tullymore Classic team remove signage and
other set-up around the course. This work will be done towards the end of the championship round on
Sunday, approximately 3pm – 7pm Sunday.
Hospitality Greeters Ambassadors for the event, the course and Tullymore Golf Resort. You will assist on
the course, at the hospitality tent and at the clubhouse with helping players and spectators with
directions, information on what to do in the area and general tournament questions. Friday – Sunday.
Main Gate Parking / Tickets Greet spectators arriving at course via spectator shuttles or private
vehicles. Provide tickets to guests wishing to purchase tickets. Provide directions and answer questions
from the spectators. Friday – Sunday.
Marshalls Responsible for maintaining minimal gallery noise and safety control of the high traffic areas
and galleries. The Professionals will not make a stroke until everybody is out of range for safety, well
back from the field of play, stationary and quiet. You will use Quiet Paddles as well as provide
instructions for spectators verbally as needed. Friday – Sunday.
Driving Distance Recorder When you arrive at the fairway of your assigned hole, you will notice the
fairway is marked from 200 to 300 yards in 10-yard increments. You will be collecting the driving
distance information for every player and recording the information on a handheld PDA as well as
providing it to the scorer (cart driver) while standing in the rough out of the way of play. Friday –
Sunday.
Spotter Assisting players when needed in a designated area on the course to help locate players’ shots.
Symetra Player Registration Responsible for registering the Symetra Tour Players on Tuesday so they
may play in the Championship. Assisting with information and completion of forms as well as providing
tournament specifics that will be provided to you. Tuesday.
Pro-Am Registration Assisting the Pro-Am participants in registering for the event, providing them with
necessary information on what is happening and other facts as needed. Wednesday – Thursday.
Pro-Am Assist with Clubs/Carts. Assist the golf course staff with participants’ clubs and cart assignments
before the Pro-Am event. Wednesday – Thursday.
Volunteer Services As volunteers check in, providing them with direction as to where to report for their
duties and where the food will be, as well as providing shirts to anyone who has not previously picked
them up. Work with the Symetra Tour/Tullymore Classic team to ensure there are enough volunteers for
each area and help fill in spots where needed with extra volunteers and direct them to their training
locations as needed. Tuesday – Sunday.
Volunteer Shuttle Driver Drive shuttle carts between volunteer parking and the clubhouse as well as to
areas of the course where the volunteers will be performing their duties. Responsible for the safety of
the riders and cart as well as being mindful of course play so tournament play is not interrupted.
Wednesday – Sunday.
Cart Driver / Scorer You will be driving a cart for a group of three Symetra Tour Professionals
throughout their round of play. You also will keep an unofficial score and the statistics (fairway hit,
green-side bunker, putts) for the three players in your assigned group, which you will call in via a twoway radio after every hole. You are not to ask a player what she has scored on a hole. Do the best you
can to keep track of each player's strokes and do not worry if you are not absolutely sure. Friday –
Sunday.
Real-Time Scoring Using a computer device, you will utilize information provided to you by scoring on
the computer to duplicate the information on the Leaderboard with the names and numbers provided.
The Leaderboard will be the central gathering place and volunteers will need to be able to work in a
busy, fast paced area with lots of spectators and questions coming their way while working to post the
scores. Friday – Sunday.
Scoreboard You will update the on-course scoreboards from scores received via computer. Assist with
general information and questions from spectators as the scoreboards will be of great interest and also
in key visible locations on the course. Friday – Sunday.
Scoring Scorecard Runners and Scorecard Verifiers. They will work together to record and verify the
scores for the tournament. The Cart Driver / Scorer will be calling in scores and stats after each hole to
Real Time Scorers via radio who will record the scores for verification with the player’s cards. The
Scorecard Verifiers will verify the cards for signatures and double-check the addition of each player’s
scorecards.
The Scorecard Runners will collect the cards from the scoring tables and deliver to the Symetra Tour
designated official. Friday – Sunday.
Standard Bearers You will be paired with one other person. One will be carrying the standard and the
other will have the numbers for posting on the standard sign. You will walk the entire course during the
group’s play showing the score to the spectators. Need to have strength and stamina to be able to carry
standard sign with aid of a harness and be able to walk the entire course with the player group you are
assigned to without cart assistance. Saturday – Sunday.
