INTRODUCTION
COURSE FACULTY
It is well-known that any scientific investigation / study
require one or more branches of mathematics. Over
the past few years, almost every subject has started
utilizing mathematical tools, as mathematics gives a
precise way of formulating and analyzing a problem to
make logical conclusions.
Prof. Inder K. Rana is a faculty member at the
Department of Mathematics, I.I.T. Bombay since 1986.
He has been organizing Workshops in Mathematics for
TY BA/BSc students for the last ten years.
This course aims to strengthen the mathematical
foundations of students of Economics, Commerce, and
Management. The topics to be covered are Calculus
and Linear Algebra. The stress of the course will be on
building the concepts and their applications.

Prof. Felix Almeida is a faculty member at the
Department of Mathematics, St. Xavier’s College,
Mumbai since 1974. He has been organizing special
courses in Mathematics for Economics honors
students.

Student (BA/B.Com/MA/M.Com): Rs. 2500/Others (Teachers and working professionals): 3500/Fees must be paid by a demand draft drawn in favour
of “Registrar, IIT Bombay (CEP A/c)”.

models, System of Linear equations, eigen vlues and
their applications.

DAILY PROGRAMME
Two lectures of 90 minutes each and two problem
sessions of 60 minutes each every day between
9.30am - 4.30pm.
PARTICIPANTS EXPECTED
CERTIFICATES

Those who only attend the course, get a
Participation Certificate.

Those qualify the final written examination get a
Proficiency Certificate, indicating their grades.
