FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 17, 2015 Princess Street Promenade is happening this Saturday! Downtown Kingston! would like to invite everyone to take a stroll down the centre of Princess Street this Saturday, September 19th for the fall Princess Street Promenade! This popular event will run from 10am to 6pm. Princess Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from Division Street to Ontario Street. Promenade is a one-day festival that promotes active living and community involvement in the downtown. Many will remember the great activities from the August Princess Street Promenade and downtown businesses and Kingston community groups are sure to put on a great event the second time around. With activities like an Octoberfest beer garden, break dancers, a petting zoo, bouncy castles, crafting and great shopping, there will be something for everyone to enjoy! Princess Street will be closed from Division Street to Ontario Street from 7am – 7pm to allow time for set-up and tear-down. However, the intersections of Barrie, Bagot, Ontario and Division Street will remain completely open to vehicular traffic. This better allows for the safe passage of pedestrians across side streets during the event. Access to public parking lots will not be affected. Kingston Transit will once again join in the fun offering free transit all day long on all routes. Buses will be detoured around Princess Street, so those heading downtown are encouraged to plan to get there by bus (considered a form of active transportation) using the Kingston Transit My Trip Planner. Please note that vehicles left parked on Princess Street overnight September 18th or the morning of the 19th are subject to towing. The Princess Street Promenade is produced by the Downtown Kingston! BIA. Downtown Kingston! BIA is an association comprised of, and funded by, 700+ downtown businesses. The association is dedicated to the maintenance and promotion of a vibrant and healthy downtown. -30Erin York Projects Manager - Marketing Downtown Kingston!
