RULES:
1. Use it to talk about:
1. things happening now, like today, this week, this month
2. things happening temporarily
3. things began in the past but it is in progress now, and
probably continue into the future.
Example:
 I cannot come because I’m working every day now.
 Susan isn’t working today.
 Are they working today?

RULE:
1. To talk about plans
or things that
someone intends
to do in the future.
2. Use future words
like tomorrow.
Example:
I am starting
classes next week.

RULE:
1. Use it to talk about actions, feelings, or situations that began and
ended in the past. (yesterday, last night, two months ago)
2. Regular verbs are form by adding –ed to the verb.
3. Irregular verbs have their forms of past tense.
4. BE verb in the past is WAS and WERE.
5. The auxiliary word is DID.
Example:




Mark realized that he wasn’t happy.
She didn’t forget her mother’s present.
Did you work yesterday?
Was she in class last week?

RULE:
1. Use it for repeated past actions, feelings, and
situations that no longer exist in the present.
2. Use it to contrast between the past and the present
Example:
• Uiko used to study agriculture in Japan.
• Thanh didn’t use to have a car, but now she has a
Lexus.
• Did you use to live in Paris?
• I never used to drink coffee, but now I always have
coffee in the morning.
