CROMBIE JUNIOR BADMINTON TEAM LEAGUE HISTORICAL INFORMATION The Junior Crombie Cup has been competed for since 1959 by various junior teams throughout the North East of Scotland. The Badminton Planning Group was therefore delighted when the Crombie Committee decided to donate the cup to the Junior Badminton Team League. The original intention of the Crombie Cup Competition was to foster and promote competitive badminton throughout the North East and it is hoped that the Junior Team League, now in its 18th year, will carry on this objective for years to come. Division 1 Winning Team Will be presented with the Original Crombie Cup Division 2 Winning Team Will be presented with the Crombie Shield Division 3 Winning Team Will be presented with the Crombie Division 3 Cup The above trophies are perpetual and require to be returned each year in ample time for the following year’s presentations: Joan Prieur Sports Development Officer Aberdeenshire Council Education and Children’s Services Viewmount Arduthie Road Stonehaven AB39 2DQ Date for returning the above cups and shield from 2014-15 Crombie League is 25/01/15 There will also be four individual trophies presented to each of the teams who are placed first, second and third in each of the divisions for them to keep as mementos of their success. CROMBIE JUNIOR BADMINTON LEAGUE RULES 1. All clubs/schools must be affiliated to the Scottish Badminton Union. 2. All players must be of secondary school age and in S1 – S6 year. 3. The games will consist of one end with no setting. 4. The order of play in each match will be as follows: Singles 1 v Singles 1 Singles 2 v Singles 2 Singles 3 v Singles 3 Singles 4 v Singles 4 Doubles 1 v Doubles 1 (compromising of singles 1 and 2) Doubles 2 v Doubles 2 (compromising of singles 3 and 4) 5. The order of play shall be strictly adhered to unless altered with the mutual consent of the participating clubs/schools and desk official who should establish an agreed amended order of play. 6. No player is allowed to play more than 2 games per match which must consist of a maximum of 1 singles and 1 doubles. 7. Teams to consist of 4 players i.e. 4 boys, 4 girls or any other combination. 8. Teams must register players in ranking singles order according to ability and not age or school year. Teams must then play players in ranking singles order. (If entering more than one team it is advisable to rank all the players in one ranking list & organise them into teams according to their playing ranking. This allows better banding of divisions and makes it easier for team managers to move players up a place when a team member is not available allowing players to still play within a banding suitable for their ability level.) Teams may be put into divisions according to the number of entries & level of ability of players within teams. 9. For each match two league points will be awarded for a win and one league point for a draw. (What constitutes a match is outlined in rule 4 above.) 10. An adult, who should stay for the duration of play unless otherwise agreed in advanced with the organiser, MUST accompany each team and be available to score games in conjunction with the opposing team adult (assistance can be provided on request for any newcomers). 11. Any changes or substitutions to teams must be done in writing & handed to the table at registration before tie starts. If adding a new player who has not already been entered on the TEAM REGISTRATION FORM full details of player are required. Players must be slotted in according to their playing ability within the teams declared ranking singles order. If a player is injured during singles a direct substitution may be made for doubles. 12. The committee shall have the power to resolve any question arising, not provided for by the rules and to review each team according to the aforementioned rules. BADMINTON CROMBIE JUNIOR LEAGUE TEAM REGISTRATION FORM 2015/16 Use a separate team registration form for each team entered. For each team entered there must be a different team manger. It is important to enter each team manager’s contact details and not the schools details. If you wish this form in word format in order to complete and return electronically please contact Joan Prieur. Schools/Clubs/Groups entering more than one team must at all times have the first team players (ranked in order of ability) registered as such. The first 4 names will be deemed to be the first team players. It is therefore necessary to have your strongest four in order in your first team regardless of age or school year, next strongest four in order is your second team and so on. Please mark in the ‘playing level’ column an indication of the player’s ability level. For emergency purposes please enter each player and team manager’s own address & contact telephone number and not the school’s/club’s/Group’s address. Any queries contact Joan Prieur (details below).
