Types of graphs


Scatter plot
 Line chart
 Bubble chart

1) Scatter plot of specification
Find the relation between time
and each component of the data sets.
If there is some pattern or trend?
2) Performance benchmark Chart
Performance score vs. Time
line graph.
3) Performance/Price Ratio Graph
Size of each square is the
Performance / Price ratio.
X axis = time
Y axis = Price



NVidia : memory clock overclocking
(doubled every two yrs)
Both: Putting more transistors into one
chip by increasing the fabrication
process.
(~500 to 600 more transistors on one
chip per yr)
AMD : always leads to increase the fab’
Consequence:
Texture Fillrate increases 20~30 GT/s per yr
Performance score increases 30% to 40% per yr.
Problem:
Effective, but cannot go forever.
1)Clock is proportional to heat. It may cause
electronic transition.
2)Physical limitation of semi-conductor.
From the Performance/Price graph:
•Concentrate at the bottom
right corner.
•Entry-Level video card has high
p/p ratio when it is released.
Decreases really fast.
•High-end don’t have high p/p
ratio.


Extend the Performance/ Price ratio graph to
represent how each GPU’s ratio changes over
time.
Add a trend line on the first graph to have a
better estimation.
