NEEDTOBREATHE – When NEEDTOBREATHE’s Bear and Bo Rinehart
set out to write the songs that appear on the band’s new album, The

commercial success either. The band’s last album The Outsiders hit
No. 9 on Billboard’s Rock Albums chart, went Top 20 on the Top 200,

Rinehart brothers, pastor’s sons who hail from a rural South Carolina

LEADING WORSHIP
RUSH OF FOOLS - Founded in 2005, Rush of Fools – Wes Willis, Kevin Huguley, Jacob Chesnut, Jamie Sharpe
and Patrick Sweeney – say they are “just some Alabama boys that love to sing about Jesus.” Even when their
success led to national touring schedules and Dove Award nominations, they have remained dedicated to
writing songs for and leading worship in the local church – Wes at The Catalyst Community in Montgomery,
AL and Kevin at Christ City Church in Lipscomb, AL. They are unashamed of the true reason behind their
accomplishments: “It’s Jesus that carries us, and becomes the Hero of our story. The hands of Jesus that
carried the cross to His death are the very hands that carry us now. And that’s the story we live to tell.”
BETHANY BARR PHILLIPS – Bethany Barr Phillips has been singing and writing since the age of 17. Leading
worship and performing originals, she travels all over the country every opportunity she gets to share the
message of the love & hope that is found in Jesus Christ alone. In 2000, she recorded her first record entitled
Stained White and soon after, she had opportunities to open for artists such as Andrew Peterson and Bebo
Norman as well as travel internationally to spread the message of Hope. In January of 2006, Bethany was
diagnosed with a rare form of cancer after miscarrying her first child. After six months of chemotherapy,
she was cancer free and is now a mother to three year old, Isaiah Jewel. She and her husband, Andy, and
daughter reside in Tuscaloosa, AL.
JJ WEEKS BAND, Worship Leaders – The JJ Weeks Band, based in Macon GA, tour extensively all across the
US doing a 120+ dates a year. They have been a band for 12+ years and have proven they aren’t going
anywhere any time soon. There hit song ‘Let Them See You’ not only climbed the charts to be a top 10 single
on the Billboard top 100 and a top 20 song for 30+ weeks, but it has also touched thousands of people’s
lives all across the globe. When talking to the band you can clearly see that is where they place the victory
in this song. JJ says ‘What an honor it has been to see God use just a simple prayer of mine to touch so many
lives. We have gotten email after email and talked to so many people at our shows and them share of how
this song has meant so much to them. Honestly it has been a very humbling experience.’
BELLARIVE, Worship Leaders – Sean Curran, Melissa Mage, Mike Mage, Zach Glotfelty, Josh Luker and Kenny
Werner started out leading worship together in 2009 at their home church in Orlando. Today, Bellarive
travels throughout the year leading worship in churches, colleges, conferences and camps all across the
nation. Their passion to serve the church is evident everywhere they go – seeking to lead those present
into a sincere moment of worship.
SPEAKER BIOS
SCOTT DAWSON, Evangelist - Scott Dawson has been preaching the Gospel since he was a teenager. The
ministry that began with simple testimonials and youth rallies has grown into an evangelistic association
that reaches across age and denomination lines in evangelistic efforts to offer a unifying message of hope:
the Good News of Jesus Christ. Scott makes it a priority to keep his presentations real, innovative, and
contemporary. Scott is the author of Dear Lord Why?, The Complete Evangelism Guidebook, Evangelism
Today, Tug and in 2012, released his fifth book, Emerge N Engage. Scott lives in his hometown of
Birmingham, Alabama, with his wife, Tarra, son, Hunter, and daughter, Hope.
ERGUN CANER, Speaker - Raised as a devout Sunni Muslim along with his two brothers, Ergun Caner
converted in high school. After his conversion, he pursued his call to the ministry and education. He
has a Masters degree from The Criswell College, a Master of Divinity and a Master of Theology from
Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Theology from the University of South Africa. He has written numerous books with his brother, Dr. Emir Caner, who is the President of Truett-McConnell
College, a Baptist college in Georgia.
ED NEWTON, Speaker - Ed Newton was raised in a deaf world. The only child of two deaf parents, Ed was the
voice in the silence for his parents. Through difficult circumstances and major hardships Ed was radically
saved in high school. God began to show forth His sovereign will in leading Ed to Clearwater Christian
College to gain a Bible education, while affording the opportunity to play college basketball for four
years. Ed continued his education journey by receiving a Master in Religious Education from Mid-America
Baptist Theological Seminary, a Master of Divinity from Trinity Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate of
Ministry in Pulpit Communication and Expository Preaching from Trinity Theological Seminary. He and his
wife, Stephanie, and their four children, London, Lola, Liv, and Lawson reside in Orlando, Tennessee.
DAVID NASSER, Speaker – Part speaker, author, visionary and ALL minister, David Nasser’s greatest passion
is to connect people to the living God. David uses relevant methods to communicate the life-changing
messages of the gospel to more than 700,000 people annually. In 2010, David founded Christ City Church
in Birmingham. In 2014 David was named Senior Vice President of Spiritual Development at Liberty
University. He, his wife, Jennifer, their son, Rudy, and daughter, Grace, live in Lynchburg, Virginia.
RICK BURGESS, Speaker – Rick Burgess is the co-host of the nationally syndicated Rick and Bubba Show,
heard across the nation on 70 plus radio stations and seen daily in over 100 markets via the Heartland
Network. Rick has appeared numerous times on Fox News and has co authored several New York Times
bestsellers and charted two comedy cd’s on Billboards comedy chart. Rick has spoken at countless events
across the country mixing comedy with the message of the power and peace found only in Jesus Christ.
Rick’s eulogy from his young son’s memorial service became the most viewed video in the world for 1
week on YouTube. Rick’s platform is unique as the co-host of a secular radio and TV show that openly
proclaims a Biblical worldview concerning day to day family life and the new stories of the day. The Rick
and Bubba Show reaches over 1 million people a week.
WADE MORRIS, Speaker - Wade Morris is a former youth minister who has spoken at SDEA events for
years. He received his Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary as well as a
bachelor’s degree in business finance from Samford University. Wade served on staff at several churches
before surrendering to full-time itinerant ministry. He has spoken to students and adults all over America
and in several foreign countries and is the author of The Journey Bible Study series on CD. Sound biblical
truth and humor make Wade’s teaching effective for young people. Wade trains for and runs marathons as
a hobby and a way of life. Wade and his wife, Deborah, live in Birmingham, Alabama with their daughters,
Eden and Trinity.

**Church Time is designed for your group to gather and share. God will move in your group
during the conference, so take advantage of this time by sharing laughs, tears, prayers and
experiences together. You choose the location and setting that best suits your group.
Strength to Stand 2016
What to bring:
Bible, pen, notebook, spending money, towels, toothbrush, soap, shampoo, personal items, football,
frisbee, playing cards (if you want to play), etc., and a smile.
What NOT to bring:
Electronic equipment, video game system and games, tobacco products, alcohol, cd’s & musical
instruments, weapons, drugs, and a bad attitude.
Luggage:
Only one piece of luggage and a “carry-on” will be allowed per student. (3 days and 2 nights)
Clothing:
Dress modestly. No skimpy clothing. No short shorts, shorts with writing on the “bum”, tight shirts, shirts
that reveal the midriff or cleavage.
If any unapproved clothing items are worn, then the student will be asked to change into something more
appropriate. If further action is needed, then you as the guardian will be contacted. Our last resort will be
to send a student home because of their attire.
Please remember what this trip is all about when you pack.
Behavior:
Please know that you (parent) may be required to come pick up your student (or provide transportation
home for them) if any major behavioral issues arise. This is determined at the discretion of the Staff,
Volunteers, & Youth Pastor.
Under no circumstance should students engage in wrestling, rough-housing, horseplay, or fighting (real or
pretend).
Spending Money:
Artist will have merchandise for sale at the conference if you are interesting in making a purchase at the
conference. You will also need to cover the cost of your meal (& any snacks) while traveling.
