The Tin Mints
FRC 4575
A Team of Four Girls Started The Tin Mints, A Girl Scout Robotics
Team. They Wanted To Show The World That “We Can Do It”
Like Rosie The Riveter and Build Robots!

Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology”
Dean Kamen
Dean Kamen Started FIRST To Inspire Kids To Be Leaders In
Science And Technology.
“FIRST is more than robots. The robots are a vehicle for students to learn
important life skills. Kids often come in not knowing what to expect – of the
program nor of themselves. They leave, even after the first season, with a
vision, with confidence, and with a sense that they can create their own
future.”
The Girls Started In The FIRST LEGO League Program Building
Smaller Robots
And Then Started Building BIG Robots
All Of Their Big Robots Are Named “Rosie” After Rosie The
Riveter.
This Is Rosie 1.
She Shoots Plastic Discs!
The Girls Decided To Share Their Love of FIRST and Robots With Other
Girl Scouts.
They Started A Brush Bot Grant Program To Share With Kids Around
The World.
This Is One Of The First Robots They Helped Girl Scouts Make.
This Is A Butterfly Bot.
Yes, It Really Moves!

Kindergarten Through 8th Grade. They Have Sent Out Over 500
Brush Bot Programs Around The World.
The Tin Mints Are Changing The Culture.
We Can Do It!
The Tin Mints are an FIRST Robotics Team for Girl Scouts based in the Philadelphia area.
The Tin Mints run teams for boys and girls in grades K through 8 throughout the Southeastern
Pennsylvania area and are starting a new team for high school aged boys in the fall of 2016.
FIRST Robotics was started by Dean Kamen to encourage and inspire kids to be leaders in the area of
Science and Technology. We believe that all kids should have access to these robotics programs which is
why we operate community based teams and not school based teams.
We offer mentoring, coaching, and grants to school aged programs throughout the country and the
world.
