PRESS RELEASE Issued on behalf of the Kent County Agricultural Society July 2012 STOP PRESS! UNIQUE ROYAL ARTWORK AT KENT COUNTY SHOW An exciting piece of artwork celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is to receive a rare showing at the Kent County Show, July 13, 14, and 15. The photo-mosaic, by artist Helen Marshall, features thousands of family portraits donated by BBC listeners and viewers in the South East cleverly compiled to form two pictures of Her Majesty – in 1952 and 2012. The 38 square metre art was previously shown at Towner in Eastbourne and The Turner Contemporary in Margate. Its appearance at the show is only its third outing. Roger Moore, executive manager at Kent Showground, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to see The People’s Monarch artwork, which will be on show at the Kent Pavilion over all three days. The artwork is unique and will form part of an exciting Jubilee exhibition at the show.” The double decker-sized piece will be assembled by a specialist team, while timelapse photography captures the stage-by-stage construction of the images. By Friday visitors will be able to see the completed artwork. Entry to view the artwork is free to visitors to the Kent County Show and is one of a huge number of attractions. Roger added: “The People’s Monarch is an amazing piece of artwork and we are delighted to give the public another chance to see it in Kent.” For more information on the Kent County Show, visit www.kentshowground.co.uk. ends Notes to editors The Kent Showground at Detling, near Maidstone, offers a range of events facilities for indoor (6,500 sq metres) and outdoor (200 acres) use, plus parking for 30,000 vehicles.
