Challenging Laws That Discriminate: Use of Non Violence to Address Legal Barriers to Justice in Israel-Palestine A presentation by leading human rights lawyer and Palestinian-American, Dr. Jonathan Kuttab Dr. Jonathan Kuttab: Dr. Jonathan Kuttab will explain the legal frameworks that govern Palestinian lives in Israel and in the occupied territories. Kuttab will also discuss his work to develop and support non violent means to secure Palestinian Rights despite the obstacles those legal frameworks impose. Mr. Kuttab is the co founder of several human rights organizations including: Al Haq, (the Palestinian Center for the Study of Non Violence that works to protect human rights and the rule of law in the occupied territories); the Mandela Institute for Political Prisoners, and; Human Rights Information and Documentation Systems, an NGO that documents human rights violations. Dr Kuttab headed the legal committee that negotiated the PLO-Israeli agreement creating the Palestinian Authority in 1994. Born in Jerusalem and raised in both the US and Palestine, Dr. Kuttab is licensed to practice law in New York, Israel and Palestine.
