Implementation of District’s response to National School Games
Grade/Level:
Level 9
PURPOSE OF THE POST:
Participation: Drive participation in School Games competition and increase the number of young people
taking part in competition.
Competition for All: Develop competitive opportunities for all, including the least active.
Clubs: Increase regular participation in club sport; involve the least active through Change 4 Life Sports Clubs
and increase links to local clubs.
Workforce: Broaden participation opportunities through volunteering and workforce roles.
Performance: Establish key performance indicators, target delivery and review progress on a termly basis.
Support Organisational Management






To support partnership schools in the implementing, monitoring and evaluation of the National School
Games Initiative.
To support schools in the South Stoke Partnership in the delivery of high quality PE and school competitive
sport and to help raise attainment and increase the opportunities for students to participate in
competitive school sport.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the programme on a regular basis and provide feedback as
appropriate.
To develop school/club links within the partnership.
To assist in the development of young leaders within the partnership.
Organise and promote inter-school competition for primary and secondary schools across the district in
liaison with PE departments and primary schools.
Support to Other Staff


To produce and present reports for local Headteachers
To attend meetings as directed.

Minimum of three years experience in an education or sports
environment.
Leadership in PE or sports initiative.
Experience of delivery of other form of accreditation e.g. coaching
qualifications, JSLA/CSLA, DofE
Graduate or equivalent qualification or experience.

Up-to-date subject and National Curriculum knowledge.
Knowledge of KS1-4 PE programmes of study and delivery.
Good knowledge and understanding of national and local sports
policy, including National School Games Initiative.
Understanding of Continuing Professional Development.
Understanding of the role of AOTT’s and how to use them effectively.
Commitment to out of school hours activities.
Understanding of Health and Safety issues and legislation in PE and
sport.
Knowledge and understanding of the Sports Development process.
Ability to manage the development of initiatives and programmes.
Ability to advise, support and manage others in their work.
High level organisational skills.
Ability to establish effective structures and working relationships
