LEIR & ITE BPMs COMMISSIONING STEPS 1. LEIR BMPs: a. The LEIR orbit will be available at start up and both electronics will be present, the old and the new one. b. Turn-by-turn acquisition will come later in the year. c. First turn: the problem to be solved here, once point b is ready, is how to trigger the first turn. 2. 2 new BPMs being installed in ITE (#1 & #2) The coming commissioning can be divided in 3 phases once the installation is finished (electronics in case 1 and everything in case 2) 1. 2. 3. Individual system test: a. Responsibility: BI. b. Actions: integration in FESA/Control system, verification of the acquisition/publication mechanisms. Integration in the logging system (though this could be OP responsibility, I do not know). BPM Calibration. Dry runs: a. Responsibility: OP/BI b. At this point if the BPMs are integrated already in YASP this could be of great help. c. Re-verification of the acquisition/publication/logging/YASP Beam commissioning: a. Responsibility: OP/BI b. Polarity issues c. Orbit stability: are there residual orbit drifts due to e.g. temperature effects, ripple of correctors power supplies, or other effects d. Commission the LEIR orbit e. Commission the steering of the TL with the two new BPMs. When Turn-by-turn firmware will be ready will have to go again through the three phases. However, in the mean time we could already work on the software for Turn-by-turn and how to solve the triggering issue for the first turn.
