Fall 2017 MOJO Photographer Program Official
Rules
Your study abroad adventure is just around the corner! Share your journey of the people you meet, classes
you take, and new cultures you experience by becoming a CEA Mobile Journalist Photographer (MOJO). We'll
feature the photos you capture and videos you take on your study abroad journey across CEA's blog and
digital marketing channels!
Compensation
CEA offers $500 to each chosen CEA MOJO who completes all required MOJO tasks while abroad by the
provided deadlines. Partial completion of tasks does not qualify for payment. MOJOs will receive their
payment after the completion of their semesters abroad.
Eligibility

The CEA Fall 2017 MOJO position is only available for students studying abroad on a CEA Fall 2017
program.


Applicant must be a student currently enrolled at a U.S. university.
Fall 2017 CEA students must complete an application to be considered for the MOJO position. To

Sample Work:

Video Sample: Provide a YouTube link (have your settings on "unlisted") to a 1.5
minute (maximum) video. Topic: “I selected my study abroad city because…”

Sample Photo Set Topics: Come up with 3 sample photo set topics that prospective
study abroad students would like to read (and that you might be interested in
capturing).

Sample Photo set: Share a link using Dropbox or Flikr to 10 photos depicting “Your
Favorite Place I the World.” Make sure they convey what you saw, smelled, felt and
tasted at that place.


How to Apply:




Complete the Application
Application materials must be received by Thursday, June 22.
Selected CEA MOJOs will be notified by Monday, July 24.
Mandatory training (could include phone call, WebEx, etc.) to go over instructions and expectations
will take place prior to MOJO study abroad departure and must be completed to participate in the
MOJO program.

Upon completion of their study abroad program, MOJOs will be notified of their payment eligibility
via e-mail in December 2017 and will have until a pre-determined and provided August 2017 date
to complete payment paperwork. Payment will be distributed after MOJOs complete any required
paperwork.

All content produced by CEA MOJOs must be completely original and not appear elsewhere.
Anything copied or plagiarized will be disregarded and will immediately disqualify the MOJO from
their role.

MOJO content must not glorify excessive drinking, dangerous activities, nudity, inappropriate
language, or disparage or show disrespect toward any group, culture, or community. To complete
MOJO work, MOJOs must not participate in anything that would put themselves or others in danger.
Additional topic guidance will be provided during training and must be followed to participate in the
MOJO program.

All prospective MOJOs must be in good payment standing with CEA.
Determination of Recipients
A panel of CEA employees will review and evaluate content based on:



Subject matter
Quality
Creativity
CEA is not responsible for technical difficulties and will not be liable for early, late, lost, misdirected, or
unsuccessful efforts to submit content. MOJO participants must meet all eligibility requirements prescribed
for their specific program. CEA reserves the right to cancel the compensation at any time.
MOJO Responsibilities
While abroad, all CEA MOJOs must complete the following tasks in order to be eligible to receive payment
upon their return:





7 photo sets using pre-determined topic list and taken with a real camera during your time abroad:
o Each completed set must include a minimum of 10 photos.
o Submitted photos must be 300 dpi, in jpeg format, and original hi-res files (no editing,
filters, etc.).
2 photo blogs:
o Showcase a minimum of 2 of those sets on the CEA blog.
o Minimum 150 words descriptive text.
2 videos
o 2-4 minutes.
2 different photo social media shares each week showcasing your study abroad life using
#ceaAbroad (can be photos from daily life or your photo sets):
o Shared on mix of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Periscope, etc.
1 3-day takeover of CEA’s Snapchat featuring your CEA Study Abroad location.
Deadline for final submissions will be the MOJO's program end date as scheduled by CEA. (NOTE:
You must make submissions throughout your program. MOJOs who wait until the final submission deadline
to submit all of their content will be disqualified from receiving the payment.)
Publicity
Official MOJOs agree that CEA and any advertising or promotion company CEA selects may use MOJO
names, likenesses, and additional information concerning the MOJOs, such as hometowns, states, and home
institutions for CEA's advertising purposes in any media worldwide, without further compensation. Official
MOJOs agree that CEA may, in its sole discretion, (a) notify MOJOs' colleges that the applicants are MOJOs,
(b) send out press releases, and (c) announce the MOJOs in the CEA Study Abroad e-newsletter or through
any other CEA social media. CEA is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the
offer, administration of this discount offer, or in the announcement of MOJOs. All students are required to
sign a waiver of release in which CEA maintains sole ownership of all content contributed through the MOJO
program. Students are not permitted to sell or modify content for uses outside of CEA.
Release
CEA assumes no responsibility for any losses, claims, damages, or injuries resulting from participating in this
promotion.
