History of Šariš brewery Brands The open doors day Beer is brewed in Šaris since the Middle Ages. Early 60-ies it was decided to build a new, high capacity and modern brewery just below the historic Saris Castle. 1st September 1964 – began building of the Šariš brewery. 1969 – started expanding beer to Soviet Union and Hungary. In addition to 10% light beer in early years were produced beer and 7% light beer. the 10% dark 1983 - the capacity of the brewery grown to 900 000 hl of beer. There was built the new boiling room with capacity of 4,000 hl per 24 hours (4 batches) which at that time represented a top European level. New types of beer – 8%, 11% light beer, 10%, 11% and 13% dark beer, low-alcoholic beer and non-alcoholic beer. Also came to a series of entirely new brand of light draught beer Thirsty monk and on a short time 9% beer with name Janosik. has 1997 - South African Breweries Ltd. pick over Šariš brewery and invested $ 30,000,000 into Šariš brewery. 1st January 2007 - Šariš brewery part of the Topvar Breweries, resulting from the merger of companies Saris brewery and Topvar. 2010 – this brewery became main distributor of beer in Slovakia. is the brands Šariš One of the greatest beer brands in the Slovakia. Thanks to its unique quality it satisfies even the most challenging beer enthusiasts. Velkopopovický Kozel This popular Czech beer originates from Velké Popovice zirca 30 km far from Prague. There are signs that this beer existed as early as the 15th century, but the first brew in the present brewery was not made till 1874. Right now Kozel has the highest sales outside the Czech republic among all the Czech beers. Redd’s Finally a brand for women! Created in 1996 in South Africa, nevertheless, the brand has already conquered four continents, the Redd’s combines the advantages of a beer and a nice taste of green apples. Master Radegast Birell No alcohol since 1991 Pilsner Urquell Gambrinus Gambrinus is the favourite classic Czech lager beer that was appreciated even by the emperor František Jozef I. himself and was given the Kaiserquell, Emperor’s source mark. After the formation of Czechoslovakia it was renamed as Gambrinus, after brabant’s duke, who was considered a patron of maltster (beer), who was the grandfather of Karol IV. Smädný Mních Topvar It has been only 47 years since Topvar brand came to be, but thanks to its above standard quality the brand has earned many awards and respect among our citizenry. The name was given after the monks on Šariš castle, who brew the beer.
