Estill’s girls fought hard but lost 1-0 on a heartbreaking goal at 56 seconds by Letcher. Estill made a run at the goal but could not score as time ran out. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Estill Middle Golfers Win Two Over Weekend A big congratulations goes out to Estill County Middle School Golf teams. Saturday Estill hosted ten middle school golf teams at Madison Country Club in Richmond. There were teams from Shelby Valley, Mason County, Russell County, Pikeville, Hazard, Lexington Christian, and Lexington Homeschool. One of our teams won the tournament with a score of 331 and the other team placed fourth with a score of 380. Estill’s first place team beat the second place team Lexington Christian by 12 strokes. Isaac Napier placed first out of male golfers with a great score of 71 which was one under. Cobbe Click and Kade Benton placed third out of all male golfers with a score of 81. There was only one third place trophy and Cobbe got it when they compared them hole to hole on last 9 holes. Maddie Jo Benton placed second in the girls division. Very proud of our middle school golfers. The future looks bright for Estill County Golf. Congratulations go out again to Estill County JV golfers. One of their teams won the Grant County Classic at Northern Ky Golf Course on Sunday September 18. the team from Estill that won first place was made up of Joe Benton, Isaac Napier, Cobbe Click and Andrew Elam. This tournament was only a 9 hole tournament rather than the traditional 18 hole tournament. Estill won the tournament by shooting a 160 with Fort Thomas Highlands finishing second with a score of 166. There were a total of 12 teams there from Fort Thomas Highlands, Mason County, St Henry, Villa Madonna, Grant County and Bishop Brossart. Estill’s second JV team shot well and came in seventh overall with a score of 190. Joe Benton had the lowest score of all 56 individual golfers and received a trophy for his excellent finish. Joe finished with a two under par with a score of thirty four. Isaac Napier and Cobbe Click both shot a three over par for a score of 39 which tied them for fifth best individual golf scores for the day.
