All ponies that do not have a current or final IPS/SJI measurement will be measured at the Show.
An allowance will be made for shoes.
Dress Code: Riders in Working Hunter Classes must be correctly dressed whilst walking the course.
All ponies competing in Working Hunter or performance classes must be declared at the ring
entrance 15mins before the relevant class.
Lunging will only be permitted in a designated area and IPS Rules and Guidelines will be strictly
observed.
NO CHILD UNDER 16 YEARS OF AGE ON 1.1.16 MAY LEAD A PONY IN ANY IN-HAND OR LEAD REIN
CLASS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF YOUNG HANDLER CLASSES.
ALL RIDERS (INCLUDING THOSE COMPETING IN RIDDEN BREED CLASSES) MUST WEAR SUITABLE
HEADGEAR, CORRECTLY FITTED, AT ALL TIMES WHILST MOUNTED.
The decision of the Show Committee in all matters pertaining to the show (other than the merit of an
exhibit) and, in particular, as to the interpretation of Rules, Prize and Class Schedule, the acceptance
or non-acceptance of entries, the determination of eligibility of an exhibit, the conduct of the Show,
the action of any exhibitor and the awarding or forfeiture of prizes shall be final and conclusive.
All objections must be lodged with the Secretary on the day concerned. No objection shall be accepted
or considered by the Show Committee unless lodged at or before this time. The objection shall be in
writing and accompanied by a fee of €150 which shall be retained if the objection is not upheld.
The Irish Pony Society would like to remind all competitors and/or those planning to attend the
Championship Show of the Rules governing the Society. These Rules are contained within the 2016
Rules and Guidelines booklet and may also be accessed on the Society’s website. The IPS Rules
concerning welfare or safety will be strictly observed and any person found in breach of these Rules
will be liable to ‘on the spot’ fines. These include the tying of ponies to trailers or horseboxes.
A Panel of 4 made up of one member from different IPS Areas will be available at a specified time on
each day to hear any complaints relating to the Show and/or the behaviour of any person. Should a
complaint be relevant or pertain to the Code of Ethics and Good Conduct the matter will be dealt
with immediately.
The Show Committee and the Irish Pony Society have a ‘zero tolerance’ policy regarding bad manners
or any form of abuse towards any child, adult, official or animal. Anyone found to have contravened
this policy will take no further part in the Show, and will leave the Showgrounds forthwith.

SPECIAL CLASS CONDITIONS - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
Horse Sport Ireland “Champion of Champions” class 78
Youngstock Championship open to Irish bred ponies that have qualified at designated Shows in 2016.
Owners must be IPS Members and ponies must be registered with the Society. To support the IPS
Championship Show and the continuation of Youngstock classes ponies must be entered in a relevant
class (79, 83, 85,91-96).
Tom Robinson Gold Cup (Classes 105 - 108)
For 133cms, 143cms, 153cms and 158cms ponies. This event involves three disciplines Dressage,
Working Hunter and Show Jumping. Rosettes will be awarded in each element of each height category
with the winner receiving a rug. The prize fund will go to the four ponies gaining the highest overall
marks. Ponies must be entered in all three phases. Entry Fee €30.00.
Mountain & Moorland (Classes 33-39, 115-117)
For ponies registered in any recognised Native Stud Book. M & M Lead Rein for mares and geldings not
exceeding 122cms, riders not to have attained their 9th birthday on 01.01.16. M & M First Ridden for
mares and geldings not exceeding 128cms, riders not to have attained their 12th birthday on 01.01.16.
Mares and geldings in Classes 41-44 and 115-117 may be ridden by riders of any age. Stallions
competing must have written permission from the I.P.S. and riders must have attained their 14th
birthday 01.01.16 except in classes 41, 43, 116 and 117 where the rider must have attained his/her 12th
birthday on 01.01.16. Judges will penalise ponies that have been excessively trimmed.
Registration number must be given with entry.
The Elite Show Pony Championships (classes 18-21)
Ponies must hold a current I.P.S measurement and showing card and must have been placed 1st or 2nd
in a relevant class at an IPS or IPS Affiliated Show. The Champion is eligible for the relevant overall
championship, i.e. Mini, Show Pony or Intermediate.
The ‘Annie Power’ Irish Bred Show Hunter Championships (classes 13-15)
Participants must be registered with the I.P.S and ponies must hold a current I.P.S measurement and
showing card. Ponies may enter and compete in only one chosen section. Ponies must be bred in
Ireland and have the breeder and at least one parent’s breeding recorded in the passport as proof of
eligibility. The Champion is eligible for the relevant overall championship, i.e. Starter stakes, SHP or
Intermediate.
The Prestige Show Hunter Championships (classes 16-18)
Ponies must hold a current I.P.S measurement and showing card and must have been placed 1st or 2nd
in a relevant class at an IPS or IPS Affiliated Show. The Champion is eligible for the relevant overall
championship, i.e. Mini, SHP or Intermediate.
‘Boomerang’ Equitation (Classes 22-26)
These classes are to be judged on the riding ability of the child and not the pony as it is hoped to
encourage good riding and provide for children that ride well but do not have top ponies. Ponies in
Lead Rein and First Ridden not to exceed 123cms.
‘Doagh @ Wexford Equestrian Sportsman classes 68-70
For riders that have not been members of the Irish Pony Society prior to 1.03.16. To qualify for these
classes riders must have competed in Sportsman Classes at three IPS shows. To be judged on the ability
of the rider, the effort put into turn-out of pony and rider and the suitability of pony for the rider.
TROPHIES FOR POINTS GAINED AT SHOW
The Pinkeen Trophy for the girl gaining the most points on one or two ponies during the
Show.
The Carew Cup for the boy gaining the most points on one or two ponies during the Show.
Riders competing for these trophies MUST record their points at the Secretary’s Office
which must be handed in at the end of the Show.

Both trophies will be awarded at the 2016 Points Awards

There will be a start time of 9am sharp in all Rings on each day. Classes will follow on as per schedule
unless a change is made in which case competitors will be notified.
It may not be possible to accommodate competitors’ ponies of different heights or in breed classes.
Please take note of this when making your entries.
The Committee reserve the right to change the running order of classes.
Entries will not be refunded where classes coincide.
75% of entry fee may be refunded for withdrawals made before Wednesday 10th August 2016 if
accompanied by a Veterinary Certificate

Every effort has been made to ensure that classes do not clash, although it is impossible to cover
every eventuality.
Please note that classes will not be delayed to wait for any competitor and that it is the responsibility
of each competitor to be present for judging.
