Title: The Collaborative End Game Description: We all have the best of intentions heading into a Collaborative file. Things often start out well and then after a few sessions, we find ourselves at impasse or at a loss as to how to proceed. We find ourselves struggling to reach agreement using Collaborative principles and sometimes resort to more traditional negotiating. In this training, we will examine the big picture of the various routes that can lead us astray and ultimately to impasse. We will explore how to get from an exploration of the interests of the parties to a completed agreement on all issues. We will consider questions such as what does transparency really mean and what does it look like? What is the role of advocacy in collaborative negotiations? Deconstructing the end game allows parties and professionals to give the same level of care to the end game as they do to starting the process. Through conceptual presentation, discussion amongst the program participants, and experiential exercises, a new way to think about and work in the Collaborative End Game will emerge.
