That team also set records for points scored, assists and blocked shots. App began his collegiate coaching career at Williams College in 2008-09. He helped the Ephs to a 17-9 record and its first outright "Little Three" (Williams, Amherst College and Wesleyan University) championship since 1996. App joined the Cornell coaching staff in October 2009 and helped the Big Red to its most successful season ever. Cornell won its third straight Ivy League championship and won two games in the 2010 NCAA Tournament. The Big Red became the first Ivy League squad to advance to the Sweet 16 in 31 years with wins over fifth-seeded Temple and fourthseeded Wisconsin.
