Dear Candidate,
I am very pleased that you have requested an application pack for the TA3 role within school.
We are currently advertising for two part time TA3 posts for the next academic year. Prospective
candidates should be aware that the Governors apply a child protection ethic in the school. We welcome
visits prior to application and these should be arranged through the school bursar, Mrs Cornwell.
Our school at Ribbleton Avenue Infants, Preston is a multi-ethnic urban school with 241 children
on roll from Nursery to Year 2. The surrounding community is varied with a high deprivation index. At
the moment 37% of children receive free school meals and there is a higher than average number of
children on the special educational needs register. Currently 70% of the children are from Asian
Heritage backgrounds with a small number of children who are Polish speaking and other community
languages as well. The school has a strong focus on inclusion. Some children do have challenging
behaviour but staff are well supported in their care through both the Senior Leadership Team and a full
time learning mentor as well as a structured behavioural support system which is embedded in school
practice.
In all of our classes there is a wide range of ability. Children are taught in supportive classroom
environments with a class teacher and TA3 support in each class. The TA3’s normally work between two
classes in the year group. If there are any children who are identified as having high levels of Special
Educational Need there will be a TA2 assigned to work with that child for part of the time. The class
teams plan and evaluate together so that everyone is involved with the preparation for the next steps of
learning. The classrooms are busy areas of active learning. Most of our children have had some preschool or Nursery experience and therefore have a good grounding in their learning. By the end of Year
2 the majority of our children achieve at least national expectations but that reflects the focus on
teaching and learning that the school holds at the heart of their practice.
Once the applications have been short-listed the candidates being invited to attend for interview
will be asked to work in a class followed by a more formal interview. Naturally further guidance will be
forwarded for those successful. If you wish to be contacted via email to indicate if you have or have not
been short-listed on that day please ensure you include your email address on the application form.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Sarah Johnson
