Base Unit Controls
• Power button- this is a green
square button on the far right hand
side of the front panel. It is used to
turn the device on and off
• Pause/Resume button- this is a
white circular button. It is used to
pause and resume reading, as well
as enabling and disabling the
motion activated controls.
• Read Previous Sentence buttonthis is a red square button. It is
used to read the previous sentence.
• Increase Reading Speed buttonthis is a white square button. It is
used to increase the reading speed.
• Decrease Reading Speed
button- this is a white square
button. It is used to decrease the
reading speed.
• Volume dial - this is a grey
circular dial and is used to adjust
the speech volume.

Eye Pal Solo keypad has 11 buttons all located on
the front. The top 5 are:
Enlarge Text – is the top left button, with a tactile
raised + symbol. This increases the size of the text
displayed on the monitor.
Change Colour - is the top right button. It is
yellow. It changes the foreground and background
colours on the screen
Save - the Save button is on the left hand side,
second row, and has a vertical tactile strip.
Magnification / Reading - middle button, second
row, switches mode from Reading to Magnification.
Read - the Read button is on the right hand side,
second row, and has a horizontal tactile strip.
Help
Pause
Reading Navigation
– 4 Arrow buttons
Help - Directly underneath the magnification / reading
mode button is the help button. This button is round
and almost flush with the surface of the keypad.
The remaining five buttons are arranged in a + shape.
Pause - the centre button is the pause / resume
reading button.
Word Navigation
Left arrow = move backwards by a word
Right arrow = move forwards by a word
Sentence Navigation
Up arrow = move back by a sentence
Down arrow = move forward by a sentence
Context Help - by pressing and holding the Help
button whilst simultaneously pressing any other
button, you will receive an announcement as to the
purpose of that button.
