Team Fundraising Packet M eet our client, Mrs. Allen, an 84year old woman with multiple disabilities who holds onto a strong desire to continue living independently on her Social Security Disability Income for as long as possible. Mrs. Allen called LSNC in a panic just three days before the sheriff's notice forcing her out of her affordable apartment unit was going to take effect. At the time the landlord attempted to notify her about the eviction, Mrs. Allen was very ill and she never responded. When she recovered and discovered what was happening, eviction was imminent. Based on medical evidence of her illness, LSNC was able to obtain a stay of her eviction and help Mrs. Allen reach a settlement agreement with the landlord that will enable her to keep her apartment. This would not have been possible without funding from community organizations and individuals! Legal Services of Northern California Since 1956, Legal Services of Northern California has worked to provide quality legal services to empower the poor to identify and defeat the causes and effects of poverty within the community, efficiently utilizing all available legal resources. FUNDRAISING STRATEGIES TO CONSIDER Your employer may choose to pay Team Member’s registration fees up to a preassigned amount. Companies may match the Team Fundraising of their employees, be sure to check! A team may make a group donation, in addition to its registration fees. Individual Team Members should collect pledges for their participation. $100 per Team Member is the goal! Know other teams that are competing? Start a friendly fundraising competition to see who can earn Top Fundraising Team bragging rights! OR compete within your own team to see which Team Member can bring in the most pledges. INFORMATION SHEET Team Captains As the Captain of your group’s team, you are responsible for coordinating all team-related activities. Go to the website and enter the Team information: Team Name Team Captain Name Team Captain Email Mailing Address Contact Phone Number(s) Payment Method CREATE YOUR TEAM CAPTAIN PAGE You can then create a Team Captain Login and keep track of registered members, as well as fundraising activities online. At that point, you and your members will be able to get started by registering online. RECRUIT AND INFORM TEAM MEMBERS Ask your friends, family and co-workers to join your team! Once your Team Page is set up, you will receive information that you will need to pass on to your team members. It is IMPORTANT that you do this, as they will include your Team Number. These are crucial pieces of information they will need to join your team. ENCOURAGE FUNDRAISING Our goal is for each team member to raise $100 or more in donations. These can be made in the form of online or offline donations. Our email feature makes soliciting donations easy! Monitor your team fundraising page to keep track of and encourage Team fundraising efforts. ON RACE DAY Be available to answer questions and provide information for your Team Members, help organize your team for photos, or any media opportunities, and the Start Line. AFTER THE RACE Thank your Team Members for their participation! Encourage them to tell us stories about their experience via email ([email protected]). Remind them to gather their pledges/donations and get them in by March 1st, 2012. Pat yourself on the back for doing a great job as Team Captain and raising LOTS of money for such a great cause! COLLECTING PLEDGE MATERIALS (Optional) The deadline for collecting Pledge Sheets and Donations is March 1, 2012. You may reconcile the team pledges together or you may have each team member collect and submit their pledges individually. That is up to you. To reconcile your entire team together: • Check each Pledge Sheet submitted for complete and accurate information. • Verify that the donations indicated match the donations actually received. • Be sure that each check you receive, reflects your Team Number and the Team Members and/or bib number. Encourage Team Members and Donors to use online pledging that will show up instantly on your Team Fundraising page. INFORMATION SHEET Team Members As a team member, the role you play in the success of your group’s team is the most important of all. Here are steps to a few fast and easy ways to solicit and collect donations from family and friends. REGISTERING FOR THE RACE In order to begin raising funds you must first be registered for the race. You will need to know your Team Captain’s name. Once you are registered you should begin fundraising right away! The goal for 2012 is that each team member raise $100, however, your personal goal may be higher. Your BIB number is critical to the fundraising process and will be provided to you upon completion of your online registration. By creating a personal fundraising page you can solicit both “online” and “offline” donations. Here’s how: • Go to our website at www.lsnc.info • Link to the Race web-site and select • REGISTER • Return to the race web-site and • Click on RAISE PLEDGES, then • Select TEAM FUNDRAISING • Follow the instructions to set up your fundraising page. Please be sure to utilize the e-mail feature to facilitate your fundraising efforts. It is quick and easy to use. ONLINE DONATIONS Donors wishing to pledge on-line should go to www.lsnc.info, find the Valentine Run link, then click on Zippie the Dog! Online donations made on your behalf will be posted automatically by our system but you should provide the donor with your BIB number (last name also works but is less reliable). Online donor activity will appear immediately on your fundraising page. A valid credit card is required for all online donations. OFFLINE DONATIONS Use the attached PLEDGE CARDs or on the Valentine Run web-site click on Raise Pledges/Pledge Card to download the PDF version of the card. Fill out the card, enclose check and mail in the donation OR collect donations and submit to your Team Captain. Contributions may be mailed directly to LSNC (checks, money orders or credit card) or collected by you for submission. Using your Pledge Tracking Sheet, keep a list of pledges made/collected. Note that offline donations may take some time to be credited and appear on your fundraising page. SUBMITTING DONATIONS All online donations made on your behalf are automatically credited to you without any additional action on your part. However, each “offline” donation that is returned to you must be prepared by you for submission no later than March 1, 2012. It is not necessary to hold these off-line donations until the deadline date. In fact, the sooner you submit them, the sooner we can credit them to you and your team.
