Philosophy
The Berlin Youth Soccer Program encourages a noncompetitive atmosphere in which our children can
learn without an over emphasis on winning. It is our mission to introduce, educate, and develop our youth
in the game of soccer. Our goals include the teaching of soccer skills, soccer rules, sound team play, and
good sporting behavior. We hope that everyone’s experience will be a positive one.
Coaches Code of Conduct
1. Be a positive role model to your players. Display emotional maturity. Be alert to the physical
safety of players.
2. Be generous with your praise. Be honest, fair and just. Do not criticize players publicly. Do not
yell at players.
3. Give all players an opportunity to improve their skills, gain confidence and develop self-esteem.
Never verbally or physically abuse a player or an official.
4. Play each player in at least one half of a game. Remember we want kids to have fun. Winning is
a consideration but not our main objective.
5. Organize practices that are fun and challenging for the players. Familiarize yourself with the rules,
techniques and strategies of soccer. Encourage all your players to be team players.
6. Have fun, be a role model, enjoy teaching your players are counting on you.
