Webbased Learning Tool(s)
E-Learning Platform:
Website with intelligent functionality and database, which supports a diversity of
learning tools and learning management tools, such as:
•
•
•
•
•
•
Content (text, animations, pictures, video, questions [mc, drag & drop, ])
Learning Paths (parallel and sequential; learning as a process, not as a single activity)
Assessments (pre, post, recurrent, thematic, …….)
Monitoring / Reporting (e-learning, blended [all types of learning, not just e- and
classroomlearning])
Progress (student, group/class, company, school, ….)
Communication (with trainer docent, fellow students)
Partnership
E-Learning: What?
Starting point:
1. E-learning implies webbased learning platform
2. Make always the best choice out of your learning toolkit;
that might not always be e-learning
Some characteristics:
• Internet as distribution channel (‘e’ refers to ‘no fysical contact’ and use of
[mobile] device; learning to ‘knowledge, sense and notion’)
• Learner oriented, (plus generic and customer content)
• (When needed:): demand driven
• Online back office
• Track & Trace
• Learning enviroment can be adapted to the learner
Everything is possible
as long as learning is the point of focus!!!

E-Learning: Why?
Some important reasons:
• The trainer is not always around
• Training via the story of the trainer
• Uniform training of groups/individuals (costs driven)
• Easy tracking & tracing
• Possibility of / connection with skill based training
• Controlled and recurrent training & testing
• Flexibility and Mobility; responds also to the upcoming
need and responsibility of self-development
• Tailor made solutions and company specific Look & Feel
• ‘1-spot availibility’ + ‘1-spot-maintenance’
Implementation & Long term
effectiveness
• Start with a small case (a specific team and/or subject and make a succes of
that)
• Communication (beforehand, during and in the follow up; never launch an eplatform with content without an implementation plan and optimized communication!)
• Project-based organization (planning, dedicated projectmanager, ….)
• Adequate infrastructure (devices, internet connection, software, e-mail
adresses, learning at home….)
• Starting position of students (pc-skills, web conditions, …..)
• Commitment of all involved parties (time, budget, responsible e-learning
management, follow up in time, …..)
• Technique is a ‘vehicle’ for learning, not an end in itself
• Transformation of role: Trainer wil be Coach(ing Trainer)
