We possess specialty adaptive climbing equipment for individuals with limited mobility in extremities, as well as partial paralysis. Participants with a prosthetic limb can learn to use it in a way to help propel them up the rock face. Paraplegics and quadriplegics can use handlebar-style "ascenders" to grip a rope and ratchet themselves up. We also have different seat climbing harnesses with extra strapping and padding to help with pressure issues for those of us that don't have feeling. Active and Passive Trainer (APT) LOC A TION: CA R DIOVA S C ULAR R OW The APT 5 machine is fully adjustable and can accommodate wheelchairs for a variety of workouts for patrons with limited mobi lity. The machine is excellent for increasing blood circulation, stamina, strength, range of moti on (ROM), bladder control, and muscle tone. Use of the machine is also known to decrease atrophy, muscle spasms, and swelling. Disability Reserved Precor 966i Treadmill LOC A TION: CA R DIOVA S C ULAR R OW The RSF has a Precore 966i state-of-the-art treadmill reserved for patrons with disabilities. Next to the treadmill is a reserved space to store medical devices such as wheelchairs or walkers, and serves as a transferring area. The treadmill is number 17 (need to verify) and is located near an accessible restroom. Free Motion Dual Cross LOCATION: WEIGHT ROOM EXTENSION From the competitive body builder to a person with a disability, the Free Motion Dual Cross delivers a comprehensive workout for numerous muscles. With easy to adjust beams and weights, this machine can accommodate many types of disabilities and wheelchair users. Colorado-Saratoga Upper Ergometer Cycle LOC A TION: CA R DIOVA S C ULAR R OW This hand cycle is popular among hospital and rehabilitation centers all over the world and is available to Cal Star members at the RSF. The unit accommodates wheelchairs, is fully adjustable, and helps to increase upper body strength along with providing a cardiovascula r workout. Transfer Boards LOCATION: FIT STAFF DESK IN THE MAIN WEI GHT ROOM Transfer boards are available to help wheelchair users transition easily onto various workout machines and pool lifts. Transfer boards ca n be checked out in the RSF at the fit staff desk in the main weight room. Lifeguards can also provide transfer boards at the Hears t, Spieker, and Strawberry Canyon pools. Various Grasping Cuffs and Support Straps LOCATION: FIT STAFF DESK IN THE MAIN WEI GHT ROOM Numerous grasping cuffs for ankles, wrists, and hands are available at the fit staff desk in the main RSF weight room t o assist patrons during their workouts. Elastic stretch bands are also available to provide optimal support. Low Profile Stretching Table(APT) LOCATION: SECOND FLOOR MEZZANINE The low profile stretching table allows for easy transfers from wheelchairs and other medical devices; The cushioned table is useful for a variety of stretching techniques and accommodates two people. Uppertone Gym LOCATION: WEIGHT ROOM EXTENSION The Uppertone Gym was developed by a quadriplegic to do all the necessary upper body exercises necessary for rehabilitation a nd maintenance, without any assistance. The design allows many users with spinal cord injuries to independently make all the adjustments, including resistance, without hand grip strength, cuffs, or assistance. Over twenty different upper body exercises are available with the Uppertone. Nautilus Universal Gym Equipment LOCATION: WEIGHT ROOM EXTENSION The Nautilus One equipment makes transferring from a wheelchair easier because of designs that minimize obstacles on the stru ctures and open up space around the machines. Other features include easily adjustable di als placed in convenient locations for changing weight levels, as well as many machines that have weights that are adjustable in increments of 1 lb. instead of 10 lbs. — allowing users to increase weight more gradually. Hydraulically adjustable seats, which move up and down with ease, will make workouts easier for everyone who has struggled with adjusting stubborn seats. Step N Tone This is a class for both males and females who enjoy a challenge! This 1-hour session consists of aerobic step training with intervals of resistance training. This class works all major muscle groups and is designed specifically to improve strength and cardiovascular conditioning. If steady state and boredom is not your thing, this class is for you! Cardio Xplosion This is the ULTIMATE interval class. Forget the tricky choreography of aerobics, this class is geared to give you a Total Body Conditioning workout without all the frill! We will focus on testing your strength and muscular endurance and push your anaerobic threshold by introducing plyometrics, coordination drills, and sports specific exercises. Bringing a towel and a water bottle is highly recommended. If you want a REAL challenge, then this class is for you HIIT Beat A full-body strength and cardio workout, this class will challenge you with high intensity interval training and supersets. Periods of work are alternated with short periods of rest or active recovery, all choreographed to follow the music. GTS Try out a full-body, 45 minute strength workout on the Gravity Training System. Classes are limited to eight participants. Boxing Bag Freeplay This hour is dedicated to open play on the boxing bags in Leach Room 2. The room will be monitored by a Certified Personal Trainer who will be available to offer advice and respond to emergency situations.
