Title: Grade: Department: Business Unit: Reporting to: Location: Job Reference: Senior Development Adviser Level E Initially HPSU Industrial & Life Sciences Accelerate High Potential Start-Ups (HPSU) Department Manager, Industrial & Life Sciences Accelerate East Point, Dublin EI.050.17E Role Purpose The successful applicant will work intensively, as part of the HPSU Accelerate team, with high growth potential start-ups. The focus initially will be on supporting companies in the Industrial Technologies, Medical Device and Clean-tech start-up businesses on their scaling journey from an early stage of development. The person appointed will help the companies identify and access export market opportunities, secure funding and build export led businesses. He/she will be heavily focused on working with entrepreneurs to build their team and their business and support them on their journey to grow a viable and scalable international business. Key Deliverables Work with a portfolio of Enterprise Ireland (EI) clients, initially in the Industrial & Life Sciences sector, to assist them to grow and scale their businesses internationally. Work with the startup community to market EI services and build a pipeline of potential clients and entrepreneurs for future programmes across the HPSU division. Support companies to undertake a diagnostic evaluation of their business needs. Engage companies in a time-limited programme to deliver on their business plans. Advise and support the portfolio of companies in business strategy, team building, marketing, operations, funding and finance. Undertake due diligence, with a focus on the financial business model, and bring forward investment propositions to the appropriate funding committees in Enterprise Ireland. Work collaboratively with other parts of Enterprise Ireland to ensure the full suite of supports are delivered to the client. Connect companies with a network of external contacts within the sector both in Ireland and internationally. Build strong networks with relevant Enterprise Ireland colleagues across the organization to develop a highly professional integrated approach to supporting companies. Coach and mentor other staff members to strengthen the wider Enterprise Ireland team’s knowledge and expertise of the sector. Represent Enterprise Ireland at public fora associated with the startup sector. Input to Enterprise Ireland policies and national strategy for the start-up sector. Functional Competencies (Key Skills and Knowledge) Experience of establishing or working in an export focused innovative start-up company, particularly in the development and implementation of funding, development and growth strategies, is essential. Good understanding and knowledge of relevant start-up sector and start-up ecosystem is essential. Strong ability to professionally evaluate business plans, to analyse financial models and to prepare and present cases for Enterprise Ireland investment support. Excellent understanding and experience of business models, and the phases of company development within these sectors, particularly the scaling journey. Ability to understand and analyse trends in the sector. Knowledge and understanding of start-up supports, both financial and non-financial. Ability to effectively mentor and coach founder teams as they negotiate the early stages and develop into companies of scale. Network of contacts in the startup sector, with proven ability to expand existing and develop new networks. Good experience and understanding of issues such as funding strategy, lean startup philosophy and customer acquisition. Experience of coaching and mentoring other staff members. A relevant third level qualification in a business or related discipline is desirable. Salary Scale: €65,093 to €77,358 per annum contributory superannuation Rising to €81,914 by long service increments. €62,962 to €73,611 per annum non-contributory superannuation Rising to €77,988 by long service increments Candidates should note that entry will be at the minimum of the relevant scale and the rate of remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy.
