STOCKTON RFC
DISCIPLINE PROCEDURE
Reference should be made to RFU Regulation 19 – Discipline, in the RFU Handbook.
In addition, reference should be made to the Durham County RFU website (www.durhamrugby.com) at the heading
Discipline where guidance for dealing with senior and junior players is provided.
Scope
This discipline procedure applies to all players, coaches and members of Stockton RFC.
Its purpose is to ensure that acts of foul play and misconduct (on and off the field of play) are dealt with fairly and
expeditiously.
Any player sent off by a referee is immediately suspended and unable to play again until his/her case has finally been
considered by the Durham County RFU Disciplinary Panel.
Action to be taken by Stockton RFC Secretary or delegated person
Player sent off by referee - In all cases the Secretary, or delegated person, must report to the Durham County RFU
Disciplinary Secretary, within 48 hours after the match, all relevant details relating to the dismissal. This includes the
player’s full name, date of birth and league registration number together with the name and society of the referee.
The Secretary must call an internal disciplinary hearing, at the very earliest opportunity, to gather the full facts from the
player and any relevant witnesses. Based on the findings, consideration must be given to the sanction which the club
should impose upon the player– see Appendix 2 of Regulation 19 in the RFU Handbook. Further consideration should be
given to any re-training or ongoing guidance to prevent recurrence of the incident.
Internal Disciplinary Panel
This panel should consist of three senior SRFC members and should be chaired by the Secretary or a delegated person.
In extreme circumstances it may be possible to operate with a two person panel. At least one member should be a
current senior player.
Payment of DCRFU Disciplinary Panel administration fee
The Club will pay DCRFU Disciplinary fees for fully paid up members however, as a direct result, expect the right to call sent
off players to account for their behavior.
Advice from Durham County Disciplinary Panel
Basic guidance is provided on the DCRFU website however, the Disciplinary Panel Secretary is available to give help and
advice whenever needed.
