Goal Setting


What are goals?

A goal is a desired result that a person envisions and then plans
and commits to achieve

Goals should be straightforward and emphasize what you want
to happen. Goals help you to focus your efforts and clearly
define what you are going to do.
Goal Setting

Goals should be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and
time-sensitive.

Goals can be long term, short term or intermediate.
Why is it important to set goals?

Knowing what one wants to achieve helps us to
know what we need to focus on.

Goal setting promotes long term vision and short
term motivation

It helps us to focus on what is important
Examples of Short Term Goals

“My goal is to earn a B in Honors English 9”

“My goal is to earn no lower than a B in all of my
classes 2nd semester”

“My goal is to see my teachers at least twice a
week for extra help”
Examples of Long Term Goals

“My goal is to be a member of the National
Honors Society”

“My goal is to get into the University of Maryland
when I am a senior”

“My goal is to attend Thomas Edison High School
of Technology junior and senior year”
