Totally exempt from the fee for a Schengen visa are:

children under the age of six
schoolchildren, students in higher education, postgraduate students and their
accompanying teachers - on condition that the purpose of the trip is study or education
researchers - on condition that the purpose of the trip is scientific research
government official visits with a note verbal travelling on official or diplomatic passport
representatives of non-profit organisations aged 25 years or less participating in
seminars, conferences, sports, cultural and educational events organised by a non profit
organization
relatives of citizens of the EU, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland if they
are travelling with the relative or will meet in connection with the journey. A certificate
must be presented which confirms the marriage or familial relationship. The following
persons are classified as relatives:
• husband or wife
• registered partner
• common-law spouse (does not apply to persons co-habiting with Swiss
citizens)
• a child under the age of 21 or an older child who is financially
dependent on its parents
• parents who are financially dependent on children in Sweden.
Relatives of Swedish citizens must, however, pay a fee to apply for a Schengen visa.

and the council of 13 July 2009 establishing a community code of Visas
(Visa code)
• exchange rate Euro to Rand set by the European Bank as per article 16
of the same regulation

fees and requirements are subject to change without prior notice

the Embassy does not accept Cash
•
all fees exclude bank-service fees
•
all visa fees are non-refundable
•
applications for Schengen Visas MUST be submitted in person or through a
representative (NOT via mail).
•
visa processing time is normally 15 days (plus 2 - 3 days if handed in at the
consulate in Cape Town)
•
passports NOT picked up during office hours on the designated date of collection
will be entirely the responsibility of the applicant
•
upon collection of your passport and visa, please check that the dates and all
your particulars are correctly issued
