Position: Lead Practitioner (English)
Salary: Leadership Scale L1-L5
Reports To: Academy Leadership Team Member Responsible for English
Position Description
To support the Academy Leadership Team Member Responsible for English in raising attainment
across the English Faculty. To lead on teaching and learning in the Faculty ensuring staff are
positively supported and encouraged to develop their potential to the full and become at least good
teachers.
Primary Responsibilities
The duties outlined in this job description may be modified by the Principal or Governors, with your
agreement, to reflect or anticipate changes in the job commensurate with the salary.













Support the Academy Leadership Team Member Responsible for English in raising
attainment across the Faculty and ensuring levels of progress are met or exceeded
Providing targeted individual coaching programmes for English staff where appropriate,
Developing Learning and Pedagogy in the English Faculty
Responsibility for developing and assessing teaching and learning in the English Faculty
Develop strategies for improvement
Monitor the overall progress made by English staff in their teaching practice
Demonstrate outstanding classroom practice
Develop and maintain an up to date knowledge of current thinking and major initiatives linked
to learning
Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required
Show a duty of care and take appropriate action to comply with Health & Safety requirements
at all time
Demonstrate and promote commitment to Equal Opportunities and to the elimination of
behaviour and practices that could be discriminatory
Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to Child Protection, Health,
Safety and Confidentiality, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
Be aware of and support difference and ensure all students have equal access to
opportunities to learn and develop
Contribute to overall ethos/work/aims of the Academy

working / supporting staff.
