Section 14.5: Transition Matrices
Example: Thirty percent of students studying a foreign language
will not continue their studies next year. Twenty percent of
students not studying a foreign language will begin a foreign
language course next year. Suppose sixty percent of the
students are now studying a foreign language.
a) Give the transition matrix and the current population matrix.
b) Find the percent of students studying a foreign language next
year and then two years from now.
c) Show that S = [ 0.4 0.6 ] is the steady-state matrix
