Instructions for Application to National Honor Society

Read All Instructions Carefully!
National Honor Society exists to recognize and honor students who have demonstrated academic
excellence as well as outstanding character, leadership, and service. Membership in the Alta chapter means
that the student will be committed to participating in the activities and projects sponsored throughout the
year by the National Honor Society.
Criteria for Membership
Junior or senior students desiring to apply must meet the requirement for at least one of the
following options.
Option A
Option B
 A cumulative
GPA of at least
3.75 (according to
last year’s year-end
computer printout).
 A class schedule
that includes at
least four
academic classes
(for the entire year).
Option C
 A cumulative GPA
of at least 3.667
(according to last

year’s year-end
computer printout).
 An unusually
rigorous class

 Current cumulative GPA of
3.75
 If your GPA is lower than

ALL APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BACK TO MRS. RITTER IN ROOM 2319 NO LATER THAN
THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 27th. You must attach a copy of your official GPA as well as a current
class schedule to your applications (These may be obtained from Skyward or last years report card,
DO NOT ASK THE REGISTRAR). Late applications will not be considered. A list of members will be
posted in the counseling center, the main office, and Mrs. Ritter’s room by October 1st. Students who
qualify will also be notified by mail concerning the induction date and time.
NOTE: Applying is no guarantee of acceptance. It is the students’ responsibility to ensure that all
requirements are met.
