Vertex is excited to announce a grant opportunity in the area of telemedicine aimed at supporting the community of patients with chronic hepatitis C.
Vertex is accepting grant applications for HCV focused telemedicine programs in the US, Puerto Rico or Canada. Modeled after Project ECHO, the goal of the program is to increase treatment capacity in medically underserved areas through linkage to expert care networks, resulting in local centers of Hepatitis C care excellence. Successful grant recipients are expected to be able to demonstrate a measurable increase in effectiveness of HCV screening, care and treatment at the conclusion of the grant period.
Number of Grants Awarded: Maximum 4
Grant Amount: Maximum $250,000 including institutional overhead
Announcement of Grant Recipients will take place by October 1, 2012
The grant proposal should not exceed a total of 10 pages (excluding references and bios). Incomplete and late proposals will not be considered for review. Complete proposals should include detailed information on:
• Organizational capacity
• Program summary
• Program milestones
• Evaluation plan
• Communication of results
• Collaborations
• Financial information/detailed budget
Applicant Requirements:
• Applicant must be a 501c3 organization
• Proposal needs to include robust and referenced:
o description of unmet medical needs addressed by telemedicine program and medical team that would participate o outcomes plan (Note: Publication of “best practice” approaches and outcomes is encouraged.)
• Identification of all community partners and clarification of each partner’s roles and responsibilities.

Log in or register as a new user
Click “New Grant”
Agree to the terms and conditions
From the dropdown “Grant Type,” choose “Charitable Grant”
For “Charitable Objective” choose “Promote Awareness and Screening of Hepatitis C,” and for the question “Does this activity include Hepatitis C screening?” select“No.”

On the first tab, click “Copy my Profile” to populate much of the initial information. Complete the Organization Information fields as well.
9. On the “Program Info” tab, the title of your grant must begin with “Telemedicine Project/[title of your submission]” . This is extremely important, as it will allow us to identify grants submitted as part of this request.
10. Fill in the remaining fields, and upload the appropriate attachments on the attachment tab. The “Executive Summary of Planned Activities” field should be utilized for the proposal summary.
11. Submit your grant.
