Press release AliceBox: an ever greater number of services: Higher internet speed, 27 new destinations included in the unlimited phone offering, 70 new TV channels, launch of a digital radio package Paris, 26 February 2009 – True to its wish to provide an ever greater number of services, Alice has further enhanced its AliceBox offering and now offers its new subscribers: • • • • • Up to 28 Mbps downloading speed in unbundled areas and 22 Mbps in non-unbundled areas; 27 new destinations included in the unlimited calls offering, which is a total of 87 destinations; 70 new channels for the AliceBox TV package, which now features 140 channels; 32 channels broadcast in MPEG-4; Access to a digital radio package. Up 28 Mbps in unbundled areas and 22 Mbps in non-unbundled areas Alice has further increased the available bit rate for new subscribers in unbundled areas, due to the new AliceBox launched early in February and the improvements introduced to the Alice network. New subscribers now benefit from up to 28 Mbps downloading speed. In non-unbundled areas, Alice now offers the maximum speed permitted by the original operator’s ADSL 2, which is a 22 Mbps downloading speed. These 32 socalled “low speed” channels are MPEG-4 encoded and only require a low speed to be received (approximately two times less than the channels broadcast in MPEG-2 in standard quality or "SD”). MPEG-4 is a standard that allows for greater compression of an audiovisual stream to a quality comparable to MPEG-2 encoding. 2/3 Access to a digital radio package Alice is also launching an ADSL radio package, comprising about sixty radio stations, which can be accessed by all new subscribers, subject to eligibility. The stations are broadcast in stereo and digital quality. The service is user-friendly: the stations can be accessed directly on a TV set connected to the AliceBox decoder, either from the screen menu or on channel 199. This service is included in the AliceBox package. Other specific features retained (1): 4H mobiles and Alice Music included Alice remains the only operator in France to provide new subscribers located in unbundled areas with 4 hours of call a month, free of charge, to any mobile phone in Mainland France, an offer included in the “AliceBox 4H mobiles” package for only € 29.95 per month (inclusive of VAT) for 12 months and € 39.95(2) thereafter. Alice is also the only operator in France to offer legal and unlimited downloading of more than 300,000 songs and close to 30,000 albums from all types of music as part of its “AliceBox 4H mobiles” package. The songs can be downloaded onto a PC and up to 3 digital audio players (MP3, etc.) or compatible mobile phones (3). Alice’s Customer Service remains free by phone (4): Alice pays for the whole call, not only the waiting time. Alice’s Customer Service is committed to answer calls within 3 minutes on average. Alice’s advisors answer questions of both a commercial and technical nature 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
