Media officer
REPORTS TO: Senior Media Officer

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
To develop, manage and implement integrated media plans to ensure relevant media opportunities are
fully maximised for the charity including support to internal teams with communications and media
guidance. Ensure branding and messaging is appropriate and managed.
Build effective contact with journalists, police press officers and integrated agencies ensuring positive
and collaborative relationships are maintained.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To deliver a fast, accurate response to media enquiries working in conjunction with media team
2. To write, co-ordinate and issue media releases and statements, briefing materials and features,
organise and manage press conferences/events photo-calls as required at a regional and
national level
3. To write communications plans to support campaigns in conjunction with Campaigns Manager
and Business Development team
4. To work with Senior Media Officer regarding the launch of international fugitive campaigns in
conjunction with the National Crime Agency (NCA)
5. To be aware of the national news agenda identifying opportunities for Crimestoppers or bringing
issues to the attention of Senior Media Officer or senior executives as appropriate.
6. To manage the Crimestoppers brand, authorising materials and publications arising from other
departments; updating guidelines as required and advising all departments on compliance
7. To organise the design and production of corporate publications including annual review and inhouse biannual magazine, Connect; managing relationships with suppliers for cost efficiency
and within deadlines
8. To work closely with the digital communications team regarding online content in order to
deliver rich content to support media activity.
9. To support the development and maintenance of key media contacts and journalists, ensuring
contacts are kept up-to date in a central database
10. Supervise and be responsible for up-to-date media monitoring and archive including external
subscriptions; evaluating media coverage and PR activity for internal and external reports or for
project evaluations
