We have had a number of office gatherings, family over for the holidays, and high school kids here on a weekly basis they have all said what a great deck it is! We know that the enjoyment we have gotten out of it so far is just the beginning. :-) “We spend more time outside than inside now.” We absolutely love our deck! The best thing of all is constantly getting comments about how awesome it is and how much everyone loves being out there. We spend way more time out there than in the house...especially this time of year!! We have even been sleeping out there, in the rain! (under the covered part of course.) So - thanks again to all of you for creating such an amazing space that has been a blessing to the many, many people we’ve had over. 17 I have just come inside after enjoying a lovely late summer afternoon out on our beautiful deck. This stunning deck has increased the enjoyment of our home and adds architectural beauty to the entire neighborhood. Mosaic Masterpieces did a splendid job building this much-needed outdoor addition to our mountain home and the completed project has certainly met all of our high expectations. “We sit in front of our fireplace with the glass walls open, it’s like camping without leaving home.” “We had a party on the deck and everything was perfect; the fire pit was a huge hit! We couldn’t be happier with our new deck . . . thank you for making it possible.” “Some of the best conversations of our marriage have happened while hangin’ by the fire.” 18 Thought I would send a note and let you know how much we are enjoying our new deck. Ever since the glass went in two weeks ago, we have been spending a lot of time out there and we had our first party yesterday. Everybody was quite impressed! We love the glass and being able to control the wind and temperature by opening or closing the doors. I take my computer out there and work and am enjoying our beautiful view every second that I can. “We no longer have to compete with wind and weather, we love it!” “This was not only an incredible addition to our home, but even more so, to our lives.” “We went from having an ordinary house, to one we never want to leave.” 19 Our passion is creating Outdoor Spaces that can be enjoyed every single day of the year. We hope our Idea Book inspires you to imagine how a Mosaic Year-Round Deck could change your daily life. 20 Keys to designing your deck BEFORE: This deck was too small for the clients’ needs. AFTER The first Key is to determine the right size for your space. Consider the desired uses for your deck, the size of your family and how often you plan to entertain. 21 BEFORE: Our clients wanted a larger deck they could use year round. Adding a roof and increasing the size of the deck has dramatically improved our clients’ ability to entertain family and friends any day of the year. 22 Many people believe that . . . . . . the decking is the most important element of a maintenance free deck, but it’s actually the combination of the decking and structural frame. Composite decks with wood frames still require maintenance and can rot in as little as five years. Wood frames warp, bow and twist. Today’s flexible composite decking follows the wood frame resulting in a wavy deck. The second Key is to understand the importance of making your Year-Round Deck maintenance free. 23 There is more to a maintenance free deck than just the decking! BEFORE: This is a typical wood frame that shows little to no sign of rotting on the outside but is completely rotten on the inside. I n 26 years of business we have replaced over 4000 decks due to rotting wood frame systems. AFTER: The Mosaic Forever Frame combined with premium composite decking looks great, will never need to be replaced and is backed by our lifetime guarantee. TM 24 This deck now has the fail-proof combination of a Mosaic Forever Frame and Maintenance Free Decking System to create a beautiful year-round Outdoor Living space that will last a lifetime. 25 A great design integrates with your home AFTER BEFORE: The key to this project was integrating the deck and roof with the home. The Third KEY is to integrate the space with the style and architecture of your home. 26 A custom designed wall captures the views and solves our clients’ wind and privacy issues. BEFORE: Surrounding homes and constant wind defined this unused deck. The FOURTH KEY is to solve any wind or privacy issues. 27 The FINAL Step is to choose features that will help you use and enjoy your new Year-Round Deck. 28 Our clients chose these features to complete their outdoor living theme: • Built in BBQ and bar • Glass Forest Wind Walls TM • Infra red gas heaters • Custom lighting • Sound system • Fire hearth “We had a party on the deck and everything was perfect; the fire pit was a huge hit! We couldn’t be happier with our new deck . . . thank you for making it possible.” — Michelle Madd 29 Planning your Year-Round Deck project to fit A Year-Round Deck can be an incredible addition that truly enhances your daily life. But what does it cost . . . ? 30 Like building a custom home, the size and features you choose will determine your final cost. A successful design must ultimately . . . marry the project to a budget. 31 By designing projects in a staged master plan, our clients have the flexibility to choose the scale of project that works best for them. 32 sawleaf Court The consultation The deck evaluation and client consultation at Sawleaf Court revealed these issues: • Space was too small • Wood structure was rotting • Painted finish was a maintenance nightmare • Deck lacked protection from sun, wind, rain and snow • Surrounded by homes and overlooked a busy road • Tall skinny support posts didn’t integrate deck with home 33 The master plan Stage one priorities for sawleaf court: • Enlarge the size of the deck BEFORE • Replace rotting wood structure with our Forever Frame System TM • Utilize a premium composite decking • Add stone columns • Built in BBQ • Custom fire pit • Transition deck to yard with spiral staircase Stage One concept design. Stage One concept design. 34 Stage Two additionally incorporates: • An architecturally integrated roof • Operable Glass Forest Wind Walls BEFORE: Deck was exposed to harsh sun and wind. Stage Two concept design. TM • Mosaic Ridge Skylight TM • Infra red gas heaters • Custom lighting and sound • A stunning stone fireplace • A built in BBQ was expanded to a customized al fresco kitchen Stage Two concept design. BEFORE: Deck was surrounded by homes and overlooked a busy road. 35 AFTER BEFORE: Deck overlooked a busy road and homes. Now an inviting fireplace makes surrounding homes and the road all but disappear. 36 AFTER BEFORE: This unprotected deck was battered by wind. “We spend more time outside than inside now.” — Del & Kristi Creps 37 Inhospitable weather will never again interrupt a BBQ or time outside with family and friends. 38 “Some of the best conversations of our marriage have happened while hangin’ by the fire.” — Kristi Creps 39 Our clients can now enjoy fall and winter holidays on their Year-Round Deck. 40 a night and day difference “We went from having an ordinary house, to one we never want to leave.” — The Creps Click here to set up a free consultation 41 AFTER Mosaic Year-Round Deck of the Year BEFORE Far from an average project, we chose this Mosaic Year-Round Deck to showcase a multitude of our ideas. After meeting the DeBerrys, we wanted to create a special project that would bring great satisfaction to their daily lives . . . every season of the year. 42 summit ash Court The consultation Deck evaluation and client consultation revealed these needs: • A larger, more functional deck • Building materials that would neither rot nor require annual painting and other maintenance BEFORE: This deck needed to be replaced due to the rotting wood structure. As moisture creeps into punctures made by screws, joists begin to rot from the inside out. • Privacy from surrounding homes • Year-round versatility • Improved BBQ cooking area 43 THE master plan Stage one priorities for Summit Ash court: • Increase size and function of deck • Replace rotting wood structure with Forever Frame System TM BEFORE: This deck was broken up into two smaller decks making it difficult to entertain or have a family dinner outside. • Create a maintenance free deck utilizing today’s latest materials • Provide a gathering space centered around a custom fire hearth • Transition deck to yard with a spiral staircase • Custom lighting package Stage One concept design. Stage One concept design. 44 Stage Two additionally incorporates: • An architecturally integrated roof system • Operable Glass Forest Wind Walls that give our clients the flexibility to open or close the deck TM • Mosaic Ridge Skylights TM • Infra red gas heaters • Custom lighting and sound Stage Two concept design. • A stunning stone fireplace • The built in BBQ was expanded to a customized outdoor kitchen • A private hot tub retreat AFTER: Summit Ash Court. Stage Two concept design. 45 BEFORE: Deck lacked privacy and protection. “I love looking out at our gorgeous fireplace. This deck is so much better than we could have ever imagined, we literally enjoy it every day.” — Jane DeBerry AFTER: Privacy issues have been replaced with a fireside gathering space. 46 From concept to reality Gourmet outdoor kitchen concept design. 47 The best of both worlds Glass Forest Wind Walls can be opened or closed changing an open air deck to a protected outdoor space with ease.
