Geography
Settlement – Students will look at types of
settlement. They will study eco-towns, and look at
case studies of Brownfield and Greenfield. Students
will investigate suburban sprawl and urbanisation in
LIC’s and counter-urbanisation in HICs.

Religion & society
Students will be investigating why people believe in

Arts - Dance
Year 10's will be focussing mainly on course work.
They are completing full evaluations on the Christmas
Showcase and also backdated planning and research.
When this is complete we are going to start a minimodule on duets and trios where the students must
choreograph and costume their own 1.30 min
routine.

Science
Students studying this subject will learn how to create
applications that run on mobile devices, operate in a
web enabled environment. In addition they will learn
how to create simple computer games and gain an
understanding of the fundamental concepts around
creating software applications They will have
opportunities to work collaboratively.

I-Media
Students will be working within one of four specialist
units within the world of interactive digital media:
1. Students will design the imagery and plot for a
computer game and then develop their skills in
planning and written communication to present the
game concept to a client.
2. Using industry standard software such as
“photoshop”, students will create digital images using
a range of image enhancement techniques to create
special effects using their own photographic skills.
3. Students will follow a course in the creation of
animations using a range of different approaches and
a range of different software. The history of
animation will be explored from simple drawing
animation as used by the early Disney corporation,
through plasticene modelling (as used by Nick Park in
his films featuring “Wallis and Grommit” and
“Creature Comforts).

and Catering
Students will be following the BTEC first extended
certificate in Hospitality and Catering (Level 2). The course
will provide many 'Learning Outside The Classroom'
activities such as a trip to a local Hospitality Business to
compare the standards and the opportunity to plan out
and host an event of their choice (Christmas Lunch). The
programme of study covers aspects from Multi-cultural
Cookery to the value of the hospitality industry in the
current economic climate.
