Purpose:
Explain each step of the scientific method?
Why is the scientific method important?
Define variable.
Define controlled experiment.
Explain why it is important to conduct a controlled experiment.
List and explain the steps of the scientific method.
1. Observation – See something around you that makes
you wonder.
2. Ask a question – A question that we can test/ conduct
an experiment.
3. Hypothesis – An idea that may answer your question.
4. Test – Conduct a test or experiment to test your
hypothesis.
5. Analyze data – Use your brain power to see what your
data tells you.
6. Conclusion – Draw a conclusion based on your data.
Define variable.
Anything that can be changed in an experiment that can
affect the outcome.
Why is it important to conduct a controlled experiment? (Include the definition of
controlled experiment in your response.)
A controlled experiment is one in which only one variable
can be changed. It is important to change only one
variable so we know how it affects the outcome.
