SGA Meeting Minutes December 7, 2010

Committee Reports
 Food Committee- No new business, last meeting was before
Thanksgiving, send schedules for next semester to Christine
 Academic Standards Committee- Not meeting until next semester
 Curriculum Committee- Meeting on Thursday
 IT Liaison- Met with Deborah Gelch on Friday, summary coming around,
Blackberry link available next semester, seniors get to keep email which
will be full name, possibly coming to a meeting next semester
Representative Reports
 Senior Class- Scott here, coordinating countdown events and senior week,
countdown events consist of the usual events, for senior week pub night,
more details up in the air, class dinner in Boston on Thursday, Friday is
staff/faculty cruise on Boston Harbor, alumni brunch, senior class gift
plans
 Junior Class- Karaoke Night success, new Holiday CD, Carlton closed
with “Jesus Walks”, $1 menu success, done for semester with the
exception of class gift challenge meeting, starting off new year with new
green sunglasses
 Sophomore Class- Karaoke Night success, 50+ people attended, Carrie
working on sweatshirts, class gift challenge meeting, working on other
events, let the smack talking begin, SILLY BANDS ARE IN!
 First year- Met yesterday, extended to wrap up the semester, ticket sales
voted on by class (Bruins, Celtics, or Keisha), working on Deans and
Jeans event open forum casual, talent show “Lasers Got Talent” grand
prize tickets to event, community development speaker, class gift meeting,
class apparel during winter break
 Commuter- Ice cream event on next Thursday, donations from a bakery,
work donated a gingerbread house, during common hours, Pam
investigating commuter lounge location
Officer Reports
 President- Office hour sheet available in SGA office, extended meeting
for first meeting of the semester, will take off a swipe, January 25th,
possible guests: Deb Gelch, Simmons SGA President, Michael Hoyle,
Scott Lamphere, Dean Austin, Jim Ostrow, Registrar, Jim Tweed, Marc
Fournier, let Courtney know about any others, let Courtney know about
people who can and cannot make it to SGA Midnight Breakfast, reminder
that Spirit Week t-shirts and no open toed shoes at Midnight Breakfast,
class committees allowed to come, be there at 8:30 PM- 1:00 AM, jobs list
in the office, suggest song to Bernie, symposium the rest of the week try to
attend
 VP of Student Affairs- Met with Diane Austin, talked about door
problems in dining hall, feels that it is our problem as well as Sodexo’s,
problem until renovations, let Christine know about suggestions
 VP of Academic Affairs- Symposium, great presentations, try to go, dress
casually, Jim Ostrow sent out emails about events, library will be open at
noon on Sundays starting next semester, looking into Saturdays
 VP of Financial Affairs- Emily sent a draft for Ben to look at, no other
report
Old Business
Shuttle- Emailed Ed Conlin and Tom Koerber, heard from Ed Conlin, meeting
next week
SGA at Mount Idea- Other SGA groups have larger representatives, more
activities, more focus groups, commuter councils, larger budgets,
comprehensive fee placement, don’t have more than 5 goals, narrow
focus, have more people come next year, stress passing on ideas from year
to year, have representatives from clubs sit in on meetings, combine
similar clubs, Senior Management Team can help in increasing budgets
ID cards- Working on proposal
Spring Fest Performer- No update
Spirit Committee- Looking at ways to expand committee, meet next semester,
email chat before the end of the semester on ideas
Red Box/New Movies- Contact colleges that have Red Box
Non-Smoking Committee- Talked to Kaitlin Delucia and Ann Sherman, both
emailed back excited about what they had to say, meet next semester, lost
a member, lost a member
Housekeeping Appreciation Day- Peter Hayes response, set up meeting with
him and Elisa
Judicial Committee- Pat, Alex, Kevin, Travis, Corrine, Ben, Carrie interested
Advisor Report
 Do surveys, only half of people have done them, great semester!, more talking
more walking, SGA is not done for the semester, last impression to give to
student body, go out strong, yay tater tots! Good luck on finals and good luck on
symposium!
